Cambridge Audio DacMagic 100 - Digital to Analogue Converter with Toslink, S/PDIF, and USB Inputs Featuring 24-bit Wolfson DAC - Silver

I'm pleased. Using with TV optical output. Compared to the optical input of my Marantz amp the sound seems leaner in the midrange and more coherent with a better soundstage. There's also more detail in the top end. The change in sound quality was immediate. I wouldn't say this is a state of the art device but improvement in sound quality is notable in my case, even with TV sound and its very variable nature. For the price it seems excellent value and build quality is super. It's 100% worth a punt if you're into your Hi-Fi. Try one.

My first dac , Very easy to setup basically plug and play.Perfect sound from my cd player. Then I connected my IPad perfect Apple Music .Very good value.

Really pleased with this little magic box! I was considering upgrading my older Cambridge Audio Topaz CD10, but then decided to add this DAC after reading reviews. Very noticeable improvement. Vocals sound more present and crisper, acoustic instruments sound more natural, bass instruments (I’m a bassist) sound tighter and more punchy. Not only have I started playing my CD’s more (I’m a vinyl fan normally) I’ve even started buying them again!! Also ready to add other digital sources such as a wireless steamer when ready. Basically, it sounds like I’ve gone out and bought an expensive CD player but I’ve only spent 150 quid. Get one but make sure you have the right digital output on your older CD player first.

It certainly works okay. It's not as warm sounding as my Cambridge CA81 amp DAC. Perhaps the Wolfson WM87 42 Chip isn't as good as the ESS Sabre in the Amp. But it is a 10th of the price. Probably should have paid a bit more and gone for iFi Zen DAC V2, but this one looks nicer

I listen to Spotify through my PS4 or Apple TV, as both devices are connected via an optical cable to my Bose Cinemate system. I've been impressed for many years by the sound quality produced by my speakers while watching films or playing games, but I'm always left disappointed by the harsh digital sound produced by Spotify. That has now changed. I simply cannot believe the difference this little box has made to the sound quality of my music. I feed the optical cable from my PS4 straight into the Dacmagic, which is in turn connected to my speakers via a phono cable I picked up on Amazon for about £10. The sound is now much more pleasant, as the harshness of the digital audio has been removed. In addition to this, I can hear instruments in the background of tracks that I've never heard before and the sound quality is overall much better and warmer across all genres of music. I listened to music through my PS4 and Apple TV mainly for convenience in the past, but now the sound quality is on-par with a dedicated system I doubt I'll ever change my setup. Word of advice for anyone using this with their PS4 - make sure you change your sound output settings to Linear PCM before connecting your Dacmagic, as this receiver did not recognise Dolby or DTS and my speakers made a horrible sound during initial installation. In addition, although music sounds many times better using Dacmagic, in my opinion games and films do not. You should consider how you will use this box before purchasing as it is designed primarily for music playback.

I have an old but very good hifi system. I used the fibre optic input of this device to play the TV sound, and with the USB socket of my windows laptop or chrome book to stream music from Amazon Music.It works very well. The sound quality is excellent. With a bit of fiddling around with settings, I was able to set windows to stream at studio quality 192KHz 32 bit.

This is the first time I have purchased a DAC and was not sure what to expect.I have Sony WH 1000 XM3 headphones and I always thought these sounded pretty good. When I connected these via a wired connection to the DAC Magic 100 and listened to Amazon Music HD through a MacBook Pro (2015) the volume was noticeably louder and the soundstage of the music was also more expansive, warmer and the sounds of individual instruments had greater clarity. I also attached the laptop and the DAC to my Yamaha Sound Projector and JBL portable speaker - the music through the DAC is noticeably better. I wanted to spend money on a new amp and speaker system to make the most of the Hi-Res music through Amazon Music HD - this DAC has allowed me to save money on that purchase as this makes my existing systems sound SO much better - very pleased with the purchase.

Cheap but not very cheerful. Spend more and get a better one

Simple to install and use. Sound quality is superior to 3 other DAC's I tried. Great value as well.

Comprei este produto há duas semanas mais ou menos, com o intuito de melhorar a qualidade do som da minha sala de games/musica/filmes.Vamos por partes.O DACMAGIC 100 é um DAC pequeno, stereo, de entrada, com uma entrada USB, uma TOSLINK e duas SPDIF digital. O modelo é simples e facil de usar. Tem botão liga/desliga. Quando inoperante, desliga automaticamente após um tempo. Se não me engano, após 30 min de inatividade.Tem um botão seletor de entrada de som. Atualmente uso 3 das 4 entradas que me atendem mt bem pro que preciso.Sobre o uso no dia a dia, uso bastante para ouvir musica (em media 5 dos 7 dias da semana), uso a entrada USB do DAC para ouvir musica em formato Flac. No caso de spotify, o serviço não disponibiliza ainda musica em alta resolução, porem melhora bastante a qualidade da musica no meu amplificador vintage que ganhei do meu pai. Um TECHNICS SU-2500 e alto-falantes KLIPSCH RM-500 (adquiridos há 3 semanas). Nunca cheguei a usar mais do que 50% do volume que o amplificador permite e a musica fica clara e sem distorções.Quando se trata de games, uso TOSLINK junto com meu xbox series.Em relação a games, o salto qualitativo é grande. Uso o DAC para jogar Red Dead Redemption II (entre outros games, é claro) e afirmo q o jogo fica mais espectacular. O som fica limpo e vivido. Dá para ouvir tranquilamente o som de pequenos detalhes que normalmente se perdem quando usamos alto falantes da TV, por exemplo: pássaros, vento, conversas entre personagens ficam mais inteligíveis, vozes de npc's são mais faceis de compreender, mesmo a distancia.O DAC, quando usado para assistir filmes, vai pelo mesmo caminho dos games; melhora bastante qualidade do som. Mas preciso alertá-los que se trata de um DAC de entrada, então não esperem milagres pois se trata de um DAC stereo, usado em um amplificador dos anos 80.Para quem esta entrando no mundo da audiofilia, é um excelente DAC, porém, ha opções mais baratas no mercado com qualidade similar (tem mt marca de DAC's chinesas no ali express, a preço mt camarada). Fiz questão de comprar um DAC da CAMBRIDGE AUDIO pela reputação que ela tem no mercado, pelas analises que li em materias de audio espacializado (infelizmente em ingles, na sua grande maioria) e videos sobre o assunto no you tube.Como mencionei acima, o DAC por si só não faz milagres. Tem q vir acompanhado de um amplificador de qualidade e principalmente de alto-falantes de qualidade. O investimento vai de acordo do bolso do consumidor. Invista conforme o bolso permita.Eu, particularmente, estou mt satisfeito com este DAC. Hoje atende perfeitamente minhas necessidades.

Me gustó el sonido tan brillante de los agudos y la profundidad de los graves, su tamaño compacto y la calidad de sus componentes.

Buena calidad de construcción y materiales.Excelente sonido.Los led de indicación son muy pequeños y casi no se ven.

Tenia mis reservas de que fuera notoria la mejora del sonido, pero si es verdad!!, mejoro enormemente, estoy contento.
