Design Elements, 2nd Edition: Understanding the rules and knowing when to break them - Updated and Expanded

This book is so good, that it demands my respect by my studying it when I have time. It's not a quick read, but chock full of great learning. This is the kind of book I've been looking for in maybe 40 other book purchases! I am not sure older versions of this book are this good, but I'm going to find out.

I checked this book out twice from my local library. I wanted to highlight sections and write in the margins with ideas I was getting. So I ended up buying the book! Great information. Like many design books, the style of graphics presented might not be my style, but the ideas and concepts presented are excellent.

Much more readable than the previous edition. I use both side by side and recommend students purchase the newer edition over the previous one for the more concise editing and additional images that better illustrate the concepts.

Excellent text to explore both image, impression, language, and the implications of the expression without actually steering towards a style nor offering interpretations.Appreciated for its abject neutrality in presenting a volatile subject.

I am a student taking graphic design. This book is great! So many useful examples and a great all around book on design. I highly reccomend it, specially for the price.

Only just got the book so not read it all, but from what i've read its a great resource. Nice to find a comprehensive design book that's not too theoretical that it leaves you feeling like you've been trying to solve a zen riddle and not too academic that it requires a dictionary and supporting books to understand it... It's just right. I would recommend this book.

No problem with the book, came as described but packaging was a total disaster. The product was all torn up and dented.

El libro de introducción a los conceptos del diseño gráfico mas completo y mejor ejemplificado entre los 5 que estoy siguiendo, un imprescindible para cualquiera que quiera aprender diseño gráfico.
