Merlin Songbook for beginners: 65 Campfire Classics for Merlin (M4) in D tuning

There is a great price on this Merlin instruction book at Amazon but some places have a much higher price tag. This book has only been out a few months and I wish I had it when I bought my Merlin a few years back. This book explains chords, strumming patterns and picking patterns along with 65 simple traditional songs to play. The author has a new Merlin instruction book out this month that has 100 songs but I'm more familiar with the songs in this particular book. The Merlin is not intimidating to play unlike a guitar. A guitar can seem very overwhelming with the amount of stuff you can learn on it however the Merlin is a very user friendly instrument to play. There are 36 chord shapes in the back of the book and 16 different strum patterns also that every Merlin player should know.

This is the kind of book to buy _after_ you have mastered twinkle twinkle little star and Mary had a little lamb.

Hey! Lots of awesome songs

The first book I ordered got lost in the mail but Amazon stepped up to the plate, ordered me a new book and it was delivered promptly. The book is a music book for the Merlin “M4” Dulcimer using D-A-D tuning. It's awesome, great old songs using 2, 3, 4 or 5 chords per song; I think this will be a lot of fun.

Great book loaded with some of the best classic folk songs that are fun to play. It includes tab and chords. Very small tutorial also. I’m a little bit of a guitar player so I quickly able to pick the book up and start stumbling through songs. Includes Whiskey in the Jar, I would have paid the cover price just for that song.

I do not feel it really fit my need for beginning music . It uses a lot of chords . I will need to transcribe most of it for beginners . I find that the music in the public domain fits beginners better than the song books .

My girlfriend use this book and within ten minutes was reading tab and playing songs. She has no musical background and doesn’t play any other instruments!!!!

Easy to read

Es un libro de canciones con la línea de melodía y los acordes, en tablatura y partitura y la letra de todas las canciones. Hay un apéndice con patrones de rasgueo y de arpegio. No lleva CD de audio. Odio eso de "relación calidad precio", pero en este caso, es muy válido: por 7,95€ tienes un listado de 100 canciones y no tienes que pensar en la melodía, solo corregirla cuando haya errores. :-)

I bought this book as a gift for my husband along with a Merlin and he likes it very much. Lots of songs everyone knows for around a campfire and he is finding it easy to learn even though he is not musically inclined.

Lots of good beginner songs to learn. Bought for my father-in-law and he really likes it.

I found that I had no "connection" with most of the songs in the book.

I liked this book and after you play some of the songs you can actually play them by ear!
