Great book!
Steven Kellogg does a great job with his re-telling of classics and tall tales. The illustrations are very imaginative. Great for read aloud or quiet time. We need to keep these stories in our culture!

Images stayed with me for 30+ years
I ordered this because the copy from my childhood was falling apart. This is a great version of the chicken little story: it is fun to read, fun to listen to, and VERY fun to look at. These pictures have lived in my mind for three decades and I love watching them imprint in the minds of my own children. Anything Stephen Kellogg is worthy of your money and time, in my humble opinion.

Chicken Little Rocks!
I disagree with the low-rating whiners seeking to relive some long-lost childhood moment with this book. This story is for kids, and they love it! This updated version of the Henny Penny (waaay outdated) classic puts a late-20th cent. spin on it. It's a great vocabulary builder, especially for Spanish-speaking learners, and comes in a Spanish version (original: Pollita Pequeñita '91) for bilingual comparison. I used this charming story of Kellogg's often in the classroom. It worked well. In fact, I used most of this prolific author's material. This from a 35-year veteran of the elementary classrooms of Los Angeles' low socio-economic neighborhoods.

I loved these books as a kid
I loved these books as a kid, and this is the first one I've bought for my 3-year-old daughter. She absolutely loves it, and the illustrations are both adorable and hilarious. She told me she wants to be Foxy Loxy for Halloween, which to me is a ringing endorsement. I can't wait to get her more Kellogg books. His illustrations are so wonderful and thoughtful. I'm enjoying reading them all over again.

Chicken Little
I love this author, but this book is not the Chicken Little from the Disney movie, so if that is what you were expecting, then don't get the book..it's an interesting, but cute little story.

A great twist on a classic story
A funny twist on a classic story. This particular library edition also holds up well to kids' tough use of books. Highly recommend both the story and this edition.

is saved by the police and lives happily ever after
The relationship that "Chicken Little" by Steven Kellogg has to the classic story "Chicken Little" is in name only. The original tale was about a genderless chick that is hit on the head by an acorn, panics, and thinks the sky is falling. In the Kellogg version Chicken Little is a female chicken who gets victimized by Foxy Loxy, is saved by the police and lives happily ever after. And, yes there is an acorn in it. The names in this timeless fable were used by Kellogg, the plot was not.
