This book is the real deal!
There are some books that as a movement practitioner, guide and coach; become part of the library. This book is now in that library as part of the arsenal of education that I study and explore and pass along to others as well. The book is written extremely well and mixes great humor and a not too serious vibe in with some very in depth scientific research, much of it done by the authors. Its really nice to see the different applications of working memory and the Alloway's studies that have shown not only when its important to utilize but also when its important to turn off such as in athletic applications. All ages can benefit from this book in my opinion. The working memory advantage applied to the school system offers fantastic solutions to many of the challenges that our public education institutions face today. The author's collective studies and experiences really shine through in the pages and their passion for the subject is extremely contagious. They are both on a mission to straight up help to inspire and lead positive change as we move forward and continue to unlock more mysteries of the brain.I recommend this book to everyone and anyone who has a passion to learn more about the body, health, science, movement...all of life really!

Not too convincing
Itβs an interesting read and new concept to know. But I found the author attributing everything under the universe from academics to impulse control to investment decision and even sports to working memory is over simplified and unconvincing. If so, peopleβs achievements will become all or none. You either excel in every aspects or sucks in all. But in reality a lot of people can be scattered in their ability and strengths.

It's really an ad for their online game
As a parent of a teenager who was recently diagnosed with ADHD with horrible working memory issues, I've been trying to find someplace trustworthy to help us teach our daughter skills.Made it all the way to chapter 8 before I realized the entire book was an ad for the author's online game that purports to improve working memory. So disappointed that people that claim to be pioneers in psychology feel it's appropriate to dupe parents.

Tracy Alloway publishes great books!
Tracy Alloway wrote an amazing book. I learned so much from her. Such a great book that people should NOT underestimate. Plus, you can learn from all her academic journals and talks on TV. She's a celebrity these days!

The exercises are effective, well written book overall
This book is designed to help people understand what working memory is, and provides ways to improve it. Alloway knows this subject very well, and has written many books on the subject. I feel like the exercises in the book do help, and so therefore, I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Reads like an infomercial for some weight reduction miracle.
Perhaps this review isn't fair because I haven't finished the book yet. But I keep trying to read this book and I keep putting it down in disgust, I wonder if I will ever finish it. If after a month or two I haven't gotten any further I will quit and put it aside.I only got a few pages when I spotted what looked to me like an error in fact. it goes slow if you have to stop every few pages to check on some author's assertion. The authors I'm afraid just don't give me much confidence. They are 'pop' scientists trying to gt rich on what looks like a fad - not serious academics. The concept of Working Memory is slippery in the treatment given here. As I read I kept thinking "Psycho Cybernetics" or "General Semantics" . It read like a 'pop' psychology promotion.I have an undergraduate degree in psychology. I got out of psychology to avoid this kind of thing, But maybe I'm being hasty. I read some more and write more if I change my mind.

Astounded that this was ever published.
Just lots and lots of fluff with very little substance, most of it covered in every other memory book. Pages and pages on making sure you get enough sleep or try exercise like jogging. My favourite? "If you are an adult, read the recipe first then try to cook the dish without looking back it."Really?Terrible.

Too much repetition. I know it's about working memory ...
Too much repetition. I know it's about working memory but do you really think we are going to forget what we have just read that soon?
