Much better than I expected! Love it!
After reading some of the reviews I wasn't expecting a lot, but I didn't want to pay triple for a more name brand product.I received the mount a day after I ordered it! I was shocked it came so soon! (It was to be shipped via the free 2-day shipping for Prime members.)I was expecting a fairly flimsy rod. This thing was sturdy!! It was difficult to even bend the rod the small amount I needed to curve over my console. It installed in less than a minute to the seat bolt on my FJ. It is the PERFECT length rod (for my FJ). It puts the iPad within reach, but not in the way of my gear shifter or cup holders.I drove about 200 miles today with the iPad in the holder. It was very sturdy. It does have a little movement with the truck, but my husband (who was my passenger) had no problem playing on the iPad the entire trip. The only time he had a problem was when he was trying to click on an option on a webpage on the internet while we were driving, and the button they put on their website was tiny. But he just enlarged the page & clicked on it. So unless you are having to be super precise with where you click, there isn't enough movement from the mount to cause a problem. And we didn't have the mount supported by anything else. (It was free standing, not pushed against the seat, not pushed against the console. The weight of the iPad was completely being supported solely by the rod. And there were no problems.)So this was definitely better than I expected. My husband wants one for his truck. He was very impressed with it, and so was I. I also have a LARGE hard case on the iPad and it was no problem. The mount accommodated it perfectly and held it VERY securely. I will try to post a picture of it in my FJ on the product page. You will know it's my picture, because my radio is lit up in the picture and it says "FJ Cruiser" big & bright. So you can see how the length of the rod looks in the FJ.So far it's an excellent product!Addition on Sept 28, 2012: Ok I have to add this. I'm highly impressed with Arkon (the company). My husband has a Garmin Nuvi 50 that came with a case that will attach to a 17mm ball. The ball on this item for the iPad is a 22mm ball. I was looking for an adapter that would turn the 22mm ball into a 17mm ball so my husband would have the option of attaching his Garmin to it. I couldn't find one, so I emailed the company (Arkon.com). They wrote me back the next morning and asked for my address & said they would send me one free!!! Oh, I'm impressed! So impressed that I just purchased a second mount so we had one in each vehicle.

It is what you make of it
First off, I've read nearly all of the reviews about this on here. Second, this is my first Arkon product, so I have no bias to the company. This table mount is very easy to install, and there are many installation options to choose from. There is a floor mount plate, if you want a more "rigid" mount, that takes only seconds (and a screwdriver) to swap out. I chose to just loosen my seat rail bolt, slide this into place, and tighten it down. Nice and snug, and no wiggle room. The "flexible" arm is more rigid than I was expecting, which in itself is a huge plus. I didn't want to be driving down the road and have the tablet "sink" requiring constant adjustment, and it doesn't. Once you get it into position, it stays. The only "con" if you can even call it that, is that the tablet does shake a bit when traveling down the road, but why wouldn't it? It's not hard mounted onto anything, and there's only one point of contact (let's be real) supporting the tablet. The "finger" sets they send with the unit allow me to use this with my Galaxy Tab 2 (Both 10" and 7"). Once you get the fingers installed and go to insert the tablet, the mount expands to accomodate, and the tablet is held FIRMLY in place using spring pressure.All-in-all, I don't have much to say along the lines of "new persective", but as a unit, I'm very pleased with this purchase. I would recommend this over any other mount. Sure, you could go for a RAM mount, but why would you want to remove your center fascia to install a bracket? This setup allows for a much speedier installation and removal should you want to switch vehicles. As a side note, being able to remove the mount instead of popping the tablet into and out of the fingers is a big plus for me. I can pull the tablet and mount off (together) by depressing a tab on the back. I just think it's easier to pop the whole thing off, take it into work with me, and at the end of the day, slide (and lock) the mount back in place and off I go...
