Thai Tamarind Sweet & Sour Candy with Whole Pod (All Natural 94% Tamarind)

This Thai Tamarind Sweet & Sour Candy with Whole Pod is a bit pricey, though not bad compared to others available online. Of course they're usually are more affordable if you get them direct from an Asian market, but if you're craving some & can't get to a store, these are a good choice. It was hard to find tamarind candies without added chili, so this was the only kind I could find that only had sugar & salt added. If you like a balanced blend of sweet, salty & sour, I'd recommend this. But if you're looking for the super sour kind, this isn't it. It's not seedless, which is pretty obvious from just looking at the candied pieces, since they're whole pods. Plus, if a product isn't marked as seedless, I don't expect them to be.

Hardly any hint of tamarind taste. It's advertised as sweet & sour but it's just sweet from the sugar & not the tamarind. Very disappointing.

My First time trying them - recommended by a friend as a good fiber source. To me, these taste like a cross between sugary Raisins (80%) and Figs (20%) - but not overly sweet. Ton of fiber in them, so you have to watch how many you eat - very easy to finish the bag in one sitting! They contain a very large, hard, smooth seed (pea-sized) which you discard, so watch your teeth!!

The taste of this tamarind was as expected, it has a good mix of sweet and sour. No where on the package does it state that the seed has not been removed. My first experience with tamarind was from a package out of the Philippines which had the seeds removed. I didn't know any different and was surprised when I found the seed in this package. I was fortunate that I didn't break a tooth.

I HAD SOME TROUBLE WITH MY B/P . IT WENT ALL OVER THE PLACE. IT MAY HAVE REACTED WITH MY MEDS. LOVED THE FLAVOR THOUGH,THAT WAS SO GOOD.

I was hopeful, however, the product was very dry. So much so, the seeds inside were brittle and the flavor of the fruit was very bitter. Disappointing.

These are hard to find in stores and they taste great

I recently purchased this candy for my sister who was excited to taste tamarind for the first time. I also tasted some of the whole pod candy which ended up tasting like a sugar coating raisin. The candy tasted nothing like how tamarind was described to taste like and there was no sourness whatsoever, which was a huge letdown. I would not recommend this tamarind brand to anyone because it did not live up to its advertised taste. Watch out and don’t eat the giant seeds when you take a bite of it if you still decide to purchase this tamarind.
