A reasonably priced, good quality little balance bike
Solid, attractive, well made, nice rubber tires, and good adjustment. This was sent to our daughter for Christmas this year, but since it came so early, I didn't want to wait to open it in case there were any problems and then by Christmas it would be too late to return it! So we opened it and discovered we had been sent a pink one instead of a red one (which my 4 year old daughter asked for), even though the box said red. I tried to convince her to keep it--the pink is darling! But she wanted red. Amazon immediately sent the red one, which we received the next day, and authorized the return of the mistake. I can't even actually remember if there was any assembly needed (because I didn't do it)--I think there was; probably just handles or something. It seems pretty small, but I think it will be fine for our daughter. She finally gets how to peddle and steer a tricycle, so now she'll (hopefully) get the hang of balancing with this little bike. I am hoping that once she learns to ride this, we can move her straight to a peddled two-wheeler (rather than one with training wheels). The reviews mostly said this was the idea, and the result, so I'm hopeful. I like that this balance bike has somewhere to prop the feet while coasting. I like that this bike has real tires, which was the main reason I put this one on her wishlist rather than one with the non-tube tires. A good little beginner bike. I'll update if it turns out my daughter hates it or can't learn to ride it. You can't go wrong with a Schwinn.

This Schwinn's a Win!
After purchasing this Schwinn Balance Bike on Amazon and coincidentally finding a virtually brand new Strider Balance Bike at a local kids' consignment shop a day later, my wife and I gave our 2 1/2 year son old a choice between this bike and the Strider and he chose to keep this one. I'm so glad he did! This bike has been great for him! It is definitely a bit bigger and heavier than the Strider- which I wasn't sure if that would be good or bad, but for us, it seems to be a pro (he's a little on the tall side so that may play a role). The Schwinn seems sturdier and more solid than the Strider to me. I also like the larger foot-rests which the Strider doesn't have (though the Strider does have sand-paper like traction on its small footrests and this one doesn't have anything (though you could add your own if you want)). The Schwinn also has a nice, cushioned seat while the Strider has a hard plastic seat (I personally like the idea of a softer seat, but the one drawback would be the possibility of it tearing- but so far we haven't had any issues with that). However, since this review wasn't meant to be a thorough comparison between the two (others have done a great job doing that already), I will just say that after 3 or 4 months of regular use, this bike has held up well and has proven to be a quality purchase for us. Our son loves riding this bike and it didn't take him long at all to start lifting his feet up while he rode to practice balancing while coasting. I don't think it will take long at all for him to transition to a pedal bike when it comes time for that. Overall, I consider this Schwinn a win and would definitely recommend it to anyone considering a balance bike for their child (though if your child is on the small or more fragile side, the Strider might be a better option for you).

Lasted for almost four kids!
Iβve had Amazon prime for over a decade and this genuinely may be my favorite, most used purchase ever. I got this NINE years ago for my oldest child. It seemed like a helpful, quality Christmas present to help her learn how to ride a bike. I was not wrong! Once this bike helped her get the balance part of riding a bike down pat, it took her virtually no time to get used to pedals as well and be able to ride a normal bicycle. We kept it around and when our second child was old enough, he had the same experience! And a couple years later, our third used the same balance bike the same way! Our youngest used it on-and-off last summer (when he turned three), particularly on grassy paths walking our dog. Sadly, it finally gave up the ghost this fall. And that was after YEARS of frequent use and forgetting to protect it from the elementsβgetting exposure to rain, even occasionally snow. This balance bike is fantastic. I can be cheap and I know there are cheaper ones out there, but I doubt they can compare. If you have more than one kid, I highly recommend!

Easy to put together--maybe 15 minutes tops--but you need to ...
Easy to put together--maybe 15 minutes tops--but you need to have the recommended tools, such as the right-sized wrench. Make sure the seat height is adjusted for your child. With the child sitting down on the saddle, the heels should not be touching the ground and the front tip of his shoes slightly touching the ground, as if standing tippy-toed. There is a platform on either side where the little feet can rest while cruising. My kid loved this and soon learned to stand on it, too. This is an excellent balance bike. Nice, solid bike with excellent paint job. Not too heavy or light. Just the right size and weight for the little ones to handle. It really ought to earn five stars if not for what appears to be quality control issues. The first shipment came without the handle bar. Thankfully, Amazon has amazing return policy in such cases, and we received a replacement shipment the day after reporting the problem. What we found interesting was that both packages were missing the rubber caps for the air valves. Granted, this is mostly just a very minor cosmetic issue, but, I've never seen bikes--new ones at that--that came without valve caps. My 3.5yo, after exactly one week on this bike, successfully graduated to the big boy bike without training wheels. The pride and confidence of such accomplishment on a young child is simply incomparable. I have no doubt that learning to cruise on this balance bike was the key ingredient to this success.

Really cool bike!! Over priced tho.
The first time I saw one of these bikes was at our county fair a little girl was riding one following her mother around through the moving crowd, and it shocked me because for one the bike had no peddles and two the child was so small and she was doing so good, and keeping up with her mom. I thought to myself what an excellent idea, one because I was pushing a huge heavy stroller around and two, my kid trying to climb out because he was so bored of sitting still. Then A few months later I saw this bike on the show Shark Tank, and it was close the Christmas time so it was a perfect present for my son. I Love Love this bike, my son got it when he was 3 and 4 months later he is riding down small hills without putting his feet down and also can stand up while he's drifting. I'm so happy to see him ride it so well, he loves it too he wants to show everyone how he can ride his bike. He also has a power wheels and chooses to ride his balance bike instead.π so proud of that because kids need to be outside its a great place to be and they learn so much exploring the out doors. Anyway The only thing I wish it had was the option to be able to turn into a normal peddle bike because its over priced $80. Since he rides so good now I think he will be able to ride a normal bike soon. But he has a little brother we can pass it down to. The bike it self has held up good, it has a lot of scratches but it's got a lot of miles on it! My plan is the repainted it and put it away for my younger sonπ

Great for the price. Kids still love it a year later.
Just a little follow up. We've had the bike over a year now. Lots of miles as he rides it 1/2 mile to the park and back with gramma. Still absolutely loves the bike. It looks pretty much like new. Haven't even put air in the tires yet. Grandson is now almost 4 and has a little brother to pass it on to. Well made. Not much assembly, just put the handlebars, seat and front wheel on. Anyone who has ever had a bicycle should be able to do it easily. Wheels are larger than many of the other balance bikes I looked at, makes it great for 'off-roading' grandson. He's 2 1/2 and loves it. Tires are regular tube type. I bought this one because the pictures on Amazon show the forks front and back have the wheel nuts safely being the frame tubing so the kids shouldn't catch their ankles on the sharp parts. Could have used a little more padding for the center of the handlebars, I'll just pick up a pad sometime. There are no pedals and no brakes, so you do have to keep an eye on the kids on hills, they can get up pretty good speed on it. The hand grips are nice and padded so they should hold up.

This was a perfect little bike for my son
This was a perfect little bike for my son. He got it for his 3rd birthday and started to ride it everywhere. In the winter we even let him ride in the house since we have hardwood floors. He's a big boy though and less than a year later he was growing out of it. Still, it was totally worth it! He loved it and and when we just recently upgraded him to a 16" pedal bike from Walmart he did awesome. We let him get used to pedaling with the training wheels on for about a week while we waited for the elbow and knee pads to arrive from Amazon. Then, after a week we took the training wheels off of his new bike and he did pretty good. Daddy practiced with him for about an hour the first time but he never let go. Then, the following day he was doing so well my husband did let him go and he's been doing awesome since. It's incredible! This bike totally worked out well for us. And my son really loved it. I totally recommend. The only problem we ever had was with the front wheel and the handlebar not always ligning up. My husband often needed to put the front wheel between his feet and turn the handle bars to get everything lined up again. We got the blue one and I'll be saving it for my daughter who was just born. It's such a light blue that it'll work great for her as well. Maybe I'll add a pink bell or something. I expect she'll also love riding it! If you had a talk child, maybe start them on this before the age of 3. My son and daughter are in the 95th percentile and I'll probably let my daughter use it sooner so that she can get a little more use out of it.

Schwinn Bike Wins Hands Down!
We love the Schwinn Balance Bike we bought for my 2.5 year old son! Especially when compared to his friend's Strider bike, the Schwinn wins hands down (in our opinion). Here's why: 1. The Schwinn bike is much more sturdy because it's heavier, but not so heavy that my now 3-year old son can't pick it up easily. The rubber tires are great because we live out in the country and our streets are not exactly smooth so they ride a lot better than the foam tires would. The bearings and frame have quality components and are well-made. The seat adjusts easily and fits my son just perfectly. The only downside to this bike is that the paint does scratch off easily but my son uses it practically everyday so I'm not surprised to see some wear and tear. We love it so much that we made a comparison video against the Strider Balance Bike. Here's the link: https://youtu.be/QER2iI0lWCA We also made a video of my son learning how to ride his Schwinn: https://youtu.be/81vO1U1Q4Rw
