A Gnostic Prayer Book: Collected Prayers, Mantras, and Meditations: Practical Techniques to Develop the Soul

Conveniently sized book of random detritus
This book is not all what you expect. It is a poorly sorted listing of prayers, conjurations, and invocations from numerous disparate sources. In short, it could use a better editor. The prayers follow a rough thematic grouping like "prayers for healing" but then bounce around erratically. There are subject headings as if there was a section planned but then there will be only 1 or 2 prayers under it, almost defeating the purpose for the heading in the first place. Some prayers have a little context given like "say this prayer at night while lighting a candle" or "this prayer is from a Hindu tradition" but many do not. Many prayers are in other languages and do not have a translation so you aren't even sure what your praying. In one instance, the subject heading days to pray these elemental conjurations in Latin only then the first prayer (fire) is in English and very short saying nearly nothing. The following three elemental prayers are in Latin only and are a page long each.It looks like the book was originally going to be larger and someone brutally gutted it right before printing and no one checked to make sure it still made sense. The introduction is simplistic and uninspired reading. The author is obviously a devotee of Samael Aun Weor as he haphhazardly quotes Me. Weor repeatedly in the margins but with little rhyme of reason as there is no explanation of Weor's system or how these prayers for in it whatsoever. There are Aztec prayers, the invocation from the Key of Solomon, Conjurations of Elemental Archangels, Hindu mantras, invocations to Isis and Jupiter, the Lord's Prayer, the Hail Mary, a prayer attributed to St. Francis of Assisi and some technique to gain clairvoyance by staring at yourself in a mirror. As you can see, it's just a grab bag; it's spaghetti thrown at the wall to see what sticks.Good points: Small, smartly bound tome. Very convenient size especially for travel or for quickly thumbing thru at your altar. Some of the prayers are genuinely good and with all the spirit invocations, you sort of get a nifty little grimoire rolled into the deal. Not a terrible book but realize you're getting everything but the kitchen sink and a terrible editing job.

An essential tool
This small book has some of the most powerful prayers and mantras in the world or atleast that I have ever used. They can enlighten your day or sink you into a profound state of self knowledge, connect us to our higher self and be a light in times of darkness. the prayers and mantras come from all around the world and were hand picked by enlightened experienced practitioners. I set this book on my alter and pray from it every night. I carry it on trips and use it in times of need. It has helped others tremendously as well as my self. This is an essential go to tool for any experienced practitioner to a absolute beginner in spiritual studies. If said with faith these prayers and mantras have tremendous power of a positive magnitude.I wish the best for you on your path-Elliott

I love this prayer book
This is my second favorite prayer book. The other was the first addition of this same book done by Thelema Press who is now Glorian Publishing. Highly recommend it.

A nice small book, able to be carried around. It however isn't just a Gnostic book of prayers. It contains prayers from many religions.

Interesting
This little book was not what I had expected. I found the prayers interesting but was expecting something that was based on the gnostic gospels from a more christian prespective.
