Case perfection
Another example of Case perfection. Excellant fit and finish. Blade is well centered, pins are flush, grind is even. Touch of homing and a few passes on a strop and it's razor sharp.

Still A Great Knife
Dad had one of these while I was growing up, although his was the full-size model. It was eventually lost, but had been one of his favorites because of the great steel used in the blade.I bought Dad this model for Father's Day about a decade ago, and have inherited it since his passing. Not wanting to lose that knife, I put it away and ordered a new one. Both of the more recent knives were of a rougher quality, as about everything is more cheaply made now. The steel is still of decent quality, though nothing like the 70s model. The most recent model has a blade lacking the mirror polish of earlier models. Being a utility pocket knife, doesn't really matter. The handle has changed more than anything. The black scales/handle halves on the most recent model are much blockier and thicker in places; it's obvious that less time is being taken in sculpting the handle.Overall, this is still a great little utility knife that takes a nice edge, from a still great old American company. Get one before they're made in China.

Tough as nails
Great knife. I grew up using slip joints, so lack of a blade lock really doesnt bother me at all. I use my knife for cutting, not prying or driving screws. I also dont baton with my knife, I have a hatchet. Ive had my knife for years. It's a little scratched up, and the etching on the blade is gone, but its still as good as the day I bought it. It really stands out as a good camp and trail knife. The smooth handle lends itself to extended usr without causing hot spots. No clips to get in the way, or wierd tactical designs to cause unwanted attention. I chose the SS blade because I live in S. Fl, and am constantly around saltwater and generally a very humid environment. My CV blades require constant attention, I wanted a more maintaince free knife. It sharpens up easily, holds its edge well and gets the job done. I have fancy knives for dress and around town, but when I m fishing or in the glades, this is what I use. It loves me back...

The Perfect Standard Pocket Knife
The Case Sod Buster Jr. is the perfect standard pocket knife. The quality is all there and the size is in the "just right" category. I am surprised they sell blue jeans without this knife included in the pocket. The blade pattern is interesting and somewhat unique. From the factory, the blade is scary sharp. The spring tension is really tight and secures the blade when open (and closed). While the knife does not have a locking mechanism, it also doesn't need it. If you need a locking mechanism and are going to use a knife as an awl, I would suggest something else - like maybe an awl. I would highly recommend this knife for anyone looking for a good old pocket knife that is going to last a long time.

No-frills, rather dull but quality pocket knife
I like most everything about this knife but the flat finish of the scales. Some polishing compound and about 20 minutes of working it against an orbital sander foam pad fixed that (you could easily do it by hand using a damp cloth). Now it's nice and shiny. With the soft synthetic material, it's only a matter of time before the glossy surface becomes scratched up again in my pocket, but I'll just repolish it.

Great American Made Folder
I have had many pocket knives from Case, Schrade, Benchmade, SOG, and several more - the Sod Buster is the best knife in size, durability, and price that can be found. The blade arrives sharp, can stay pretty sharp (depending on use), and is easy to put an edge on. It doesn't need a lock (I can't think of any reason I would need a lock on a pocket knife), and my SOG really aggravates me when the blade lock mechanism locks my blade closed. For general carry and everyday use, you just can't beat it. By three for the price of a high-end folder and save yourself a headache.

Sod Buster Jr. Knife
I've used one of these for over two decades. Occasionally I misplace it and have to replace it. It's a very simple basic pocket knife with a classic design that takes and holds a decent edge and cuts well. It makes a good sub for a paring knife/general purpose small knife. It doesn't take up much space, is lite, and is legal in TN. Few people are going to mistake it for a weapon/going armed.Sometimes I like simple and I'd just as soon not be confused with somebody who is carrying a knife for the purpose of going armed. If you are looking for a digging tool, pry bar, hammer, weapon, or cold chisel I'd suggest you buy something made for that purpose. What ever you end up with that can stand up to this is going to be bigger, heavier, cost more, may be illegal, or make a bad impression, and most likely won't be very good as a pocket knife so you might still want a sod buster.
