Don’t judge a guide by its game
Whatever about the game, it’s early days for it and we all know it will be in a better position in time. I’m not going to judge this book by the game. This is a great little guide for a beginner. Not only has it got high quality, stunning artwork but there’s great behind the scenes interviews and pictures of building actual real sized javelins. You get more than enough content for the price.

More of a Fanboy's Coffee Table Book Than A Guide...
I ordered this deluxe, Collector's Edition, "Guide" because I really enjoyed the beta of Anthem (flawed as it was) and I wanted every nuance at my finger tips on the games arrival. Luckily, the game has worked surprisingly well from the first day, and unlike this guide didn't disappoint. Anthem is far from a game without issues, but as a starting point of what they claim will be a games as a service model it is very good. The biggest issue is that EA are the publishers and like Activision their track record of pushing out games before they are finished and abandoning them in their development and evolutionary cycles is perhaps one of the biggest issues with AAA games in general at the moment. The other issue that really threatens the future of AAA gaming is the toxic society that has been built up on YouTube and other places where fans slate games they haven’t played, or that have had no chance to develop because they are just indulging their negativity , or because they know negative reviews increase their hits and potential profit from social media providers. You can see an example of that blanket negativity even here. The important thing to take from the publishing of Anthem it’s that, as a base game, it has immense promise and if you were on the fence about buying Anthem... get off the fence and BUY IT! It is a unique and wonderful experience with an excellent combat system and perhaps the best mobility and exploration system yet created.Unfortunately this is not the case with this guide. Prima guides are often a little thin on character crafting and the deeper possibilities of spell/power/attack combinations, but Prima have failed to provide even 20% of the possibilities for combat combos in this game; they describe almost none of how it works, and they, frankly, don't seem to understand it themselves. Instead you get page after page and photo after photo of the creation of the game from the designers point of view in excruciating detail. Over a dozen pages just on them making physical models of the suits!This would all be fine if they taught how the game works as well, but to fail to even mention the combat combo system from which almost all of combat in the game depends is worse than criminal. To explain briefly: In the game there is the normal damage a weapon or skill will do, then some of the Legendary weapons, and many of the class skills will also be either a "primer" which sets up the chance for a damage combo effect, or a "detonator" which sets off the combo effect and gives a huge damage boost which is essential for any bosses past the first few levels of game play (unless you want your bosses to be impossible bullet sponges).On top of the combo system and independent of that crucial mechanic are "chains". Chains are special effects that particular skills can set off if the skills are used in particular ways (ex. if you attack a creature while hovering with one particular skill you do extra damage, or if you kill a creature with this frost skill it freezes the closest two other enemies etc.).When you know all the nuances of the effects you can create for yourself and those you can set up for others, you can then build your attack profile to complement your team mates skills. If you do, you can do amazing things together and the depth of combat in Anthem can rival some of the better traditional MMORPGs with a little thought, preparation and communication.The only thing this "guide" does a thorough job of, is to laboriously spoil each and every quest in the game arc (which is something I have no use for and ignore (though, admittedly many people do want this feature).Everything else you need to know in the game (except the depths of the combat system) is well taught to you during your first few levels of the game and you don't need a guide for it, least of all this one. If you want a good start on a decent guide to the combat system google "Anthem Combat Combo Guide US Gamer" for their excellent descriptions, combo charts and more and save the link on your iPad, computer, or laptop for use in game. Unfortunately the US -Gamer guide is just a starting point (much as Anthem itself is), as the skills have been re-balanced considerably since this guide was produced so you will have to correct which skills are primers and detonators as many have changed. In the game, a primer will have a circle with a dot in it next to it's name when you look at it in the forge and a detonator will have a 4 pointed star (like a shiruken) next to it's name in the forge. I wrote these symbols in the skill description section next to each skill in the back of the Prima guide along with a number for what slot it is in on the Javelin suit also so the guide is actually of some use now. Yes, the guide doesn't even divide the skills based on how they are divided in the game in the section where they do at least partially cover the chain effects of some skills... sigh). The chain effects seem to be mostly correct in the US gamer guide, and the Prima guide partially describes them too, but the US Gamer is inaccurate on the combos, and the Prima guide misses the combos completely.

Not a one star review
Unlike the one star review, its a LITE! guide. Gives you a breif background on the game, an overview on missions, weapons info, enemies info, maps, and artwork. Doesn't show any chest locations. Does give you crafting table, for weapons. Not detailed as other guides

The most unnecessary guide ever
This game is so simple with such a basic, mundane and samey mission structure this guide might as well be written on a single sheet of paper. Don't waste your money on the game or the guide.

Meglio del gioco;
