Where's Wally? With a Twist!
This is a Where’s Wally book with a difference…Wally is in the dark! You will need to slide the ‘spotlight-searcher’ (a black cardboard wand with a white star) under the black plastic covering each page to ‘light up’ the page and find Wally, Wanda and co.My daughter is four and a half and whilst she is fine with the standard Where’s Wally books, I did wonder if this may be a bit too difficult for her. As it was, she was fine with a little bit of help sliding the spotlight-searcher into each page.I find these books are excellent for her concentration, she will sit for ages looking for Wally and gets a sense of achievement from finding him. She loved the spotlight element, despite making it more difficult, she thought it was very exciting! This would make a lovely gift for a Where’s Wally fan. We would give it a five star rating.*With thanks to Walker Books for providing a copy to review.

Who doesn't love Where's Wally?
This is a really fun twist on the standard 'Where's Wally?' books. Each scene is printed onto acetate over a black background, making it pretty difficult to see. Luckily, a spotlight searcher has been provided in a handy holder on the front page (don't worry, more can be downloaded should anything happen to the original) with a white star on the end. When inserted into the side of the page the white background makes the picture much easier to see, so finding Wally will be a doddle, right? This is great for children, adults and even those who feel they are Wally experts. I have lost several guests to the lure of just one more Wally, and have thoroughly enjoyed owning this book.I received this book from Walker in exchange for my unbiased review.

New Wally gimmick - light up the scenes yourself to find the hidden pictures
You know what you're getting with Wally. It's always reassuring to see his bobble hat and cheery greeting. In this new volume, Wally is in THE DARK.That's right, Wally-spotters! All the scenes are darkened, and you'll need the attached spotlight 'magic torch' to illuminate the scenes a section at a time to find the hidden objects and people. As usual we are to search for Wally and Wenda, Odlaw, the Wizard and Woof, and their usual objects. This time, torches are also on our checklist, which are the shortest I've seen so far (only a handful of other items per page to search for).Only five scenes this time, each of which seem familiar from previous books: outer space, Hollywood, a cave, volcano and underwater. For each, there are things to spot as well as puzzles to solve (matching scenes, finding routes, solving riddles).Handford's artwork is, as ever, exquisitely detailed and full of humour. You could look at the scenes for hours at all the details, facial expressions, mini-stories within the pages. He never stints on these aspects. This is a lovely hardback edition, great quality. The torch when removed, gives a website where you can download more of them. For a Wally enthusiast, this will be a definite 'must' for Christmas. It may not be the best book to start with for a Wally novice though, with just five scenes. A great new gimmick, will be enjoyed by readers of 6 and over. With thanks to Walker Books for providing a sample reading copy.

A fun update on a classic
What another cracker of a Where’s Wally book. I loved Where’s Wally as a child. It would entertain me for hours as I tried to not only find Wally but also his friends and their key processions. For this search we have a magic spotlight to find Wally, with a star and a circle. Both big and light as the spotlight reveals the picture. This makes the challenge even more fun as you only have a small space to search for the missing pieces. This is a challenging Where’s Wally, one that can be made as easy or as difficult as you like by choosing whether to find just Wally, everyone or even include the special search per page. This is a fun book, that I see perfect for adults and kids, with a fun update on the usual search and find. And let me challenge you to find Wally?
