A possible household danger
The light itself isn't too bad for the price and the build quality seems to be pretty decent. While not the brightest light, the rigid aluminum housing helps to dissipate heat and lend a classy look. However, the under powered transformer gets extremely hot and causes its internals to overheat, emitting a faint burning smell. Physical deformation can be seen. This has happened on two of the three units I bought, all purchased in late 2018 from Amazon. Manufacturer claims that the transformer issue has been rectified is a lie.

updated review: afraid to use these lights
UPDATE 1/15/18: Do not buy these lights! I have had these lights about a month and they overheat to the point that they almost started a fire. They start to blink and turn off. The plugs are literally melting (see pictures). Initially, I was really happy with their size and how they worked but now I am afraid to use them. I bought three and am afraid to use them for fear of a fire.Nice lights for growing seeds. They are a good size as well. No directions for how to mount but not too tough to figure it out.

Feels like state-of-the-art.
Tiny, light as a feather, with a warm, pink glow. More like a magic wand than a plant light! I use it my windowless office—in a maximum security prison, no less— and have it on a 12-hour timer. It’s been weeks, and no over heating. My happy plants: a Bonsai grapefruit, Pink Spot, African Violet, Jade, Crown of Thorns, a Hyacynth, and a Christmas Cactus exploding in orange and pink blossoms. I’m ordering another light and adding plants. Maybe some strawberries!

dr Good for being directly above plants
Use this for cacti, sensitive plants and non-heat loving plants. I have seen growth in the succulents that are closest to the light. The others that are roughly less than 1ft away from the source are doing well but no noticeable improvement. Magnets ran out after 2 months, and the light source is a bit hot so it melted the sticky that was provided with the magnets.tl;drGood for being directly above plants. Don't use magnets/sticky, use another way of attacking light near the plants

REVISED.......bad item
In bad spot in building so this item really helping my house plants.Thank you...REVISED....it's flickering like it want to burn out.Wow.Less then a month..And it just burned out.Ug.

Keeps my plants and the ambiance poppin'!
My tropical palms have been holding up well using these as a daylight supplement during the week.They make your house look like a scene out of Miami Vice tho...
