Consistent! Small learning curve but I like it!!
I like it! Yes it is a little fussy if you don't put enough meat in the cavities to make the top rounded, but after the first fill I was able to get more consistent meatballs. I hate using a meatball scooper because it hurts my hand a lot! But no issues with this. I make a TON of meatballs during the holidays and these are definitely more consistently sized than the ones I make, and overall should be a time savings over making each one by hand. Either way the consistency is worth it for me. Yes the meatballs do get a little off-round when they cook (mine had a full cup of chopped green onions in the recipe which I'm sure didn't help). I did spray it before filling the first time but not after. I was surprised at how nicely the meat balls came out, at first I was afraid if I hit it too hard, they wouldn't come out, but you can really give them a whack and they stay round, no worries there. If you look at the second picture, you can see some are not consistent, those were literally my first try. I reviewed this on my blog, the weekday kitchen (Mongolian meatballs) if you're interested in seeing more pictures.

Meatball Magnificence
I HATE making meatballs. It is so tedious and I do not like touching meat, so the less I have to, the better. This gadget has saved my life and now I make meatballs once a week!

If you hate touching meat, this might be for you?
I got this to help more rapidly process a large amount of ground bison we recently bought. I had hoped it would make the process faster but it really didn't. If you don't mind hand-rolling meatballs (which is really easy, to be honest) it's so fast to just grab a pinch of meat, roughly shape a ball, then roll for a few seconds to smooth it out. It takes maybe 5-10 seconds per ball. This thing isn't necessarily slower but it's definitely not faster either. You have to carefully pack each cup with just the right amount of meat then add the top shaper piece and lid and press HARD to squeeze out the excess. And there will be excess, because if you don't you'll have voids or lumpy meatballs. Then you have to remove the two top pieces and clean the squeeze-out from them, then coax the meatballs out of the bottom. Cooking spray helps, but then you have to spray in between every batch which adds an extra step.If I was making meatballs for a party or something and wanted them perfectly shaped, this is a good tool for that. But for general eating, this isn't worth the bother.

Who doesnt like meatballs?
So I make my recipe and tried out my new meatball maker. Very excited. I mix my chop meat and sausage meat...cook a mess of onions and get out all my other ingredients and get to work. It is a little awkward but it does make a nice size meatball. All my meatballs are exactly the same size. It is however a bit flimsy. Dishwasher safe on top rack is a necessary plus ! I will continue to use it. I am not sure I would recommend it to a friend but will continue to use it.... its ok I guess !

Little Learning Curve
Maybe it's just me but there's a little learning curve to getting the meatballs as nice and as easily as in the images and videos. My first try was a mess. That was my fault since I started out trying to do mozza-stuffed meatballs and the two halves just wouldn't mold. This meatball maker probably isn't made for that. The meat just stuck on both sides. I was still able to make the stuffed meatballs but it took a little manual manipulation afterwards to put the two halves together. On my second round (regular, non-stuffed meatballs this time) I sprayed both sides of the maker with Pam and had much better luck. The meatballs were a little loose however and still took a bit of manual manipulation to tighten them. In the third round I overfilled them a tiny bit and they turned out to be much tighter on their own. But that took a bit more than a pound of meat. All in all, I would not use this just to do one pound of meatballs. A scoop would be better and faster with fewer dishes to clean. But I make meatballs in bulk to freeze for easy meals. I am pleased with my purchase and minus the learning curve, I believe this meatball maker will save time.

Questionable.
It helps to mold meat eavenly , but still too fragile. To make meatballs that do not break apart during cooking, I still need to do additional work. Also washing the greasy meatball mold is a headache.

not much of a time-saver
I find it quite time consuming to fill. It is not easy to get to the Max Fill Line as it's below the level of the flat part. If you put too little in, the meatballs aren't full spheres. If you put too much in, too much squirts out of the holes making the meatballs stick to the plastic. Plus it takes a long time to wash it as there are at lot of little crevices. The meatballs have a tendency to stick to the plastic so you have to spray it with oil before filling, which the instructions do not tell you. Even if I was able to deal with all these things, the meatballs are HUGE. As an adult, you have to take many bites which is awkward. For a child, same thing. Also, even if the balls were perfectly round before cooking, I found they shrink down and lose their shape. I gave up on it after several tries and now just use a 1/8 cup measuring cup dipped in water, then shape the balls with my hands. Much faster and less hassle.

meh
I thought this was going to be simple and easy and I guess when you watch the video it is, however, you have to be extremely precise with the meat that you put in there, you can’t just squish it in like the guy in the video does and then shaking them out wasn't that simple, I found it to just be silly and I had to reshape some of my meatballs anyway which is not a big deal I don’t know what I was thinking

Another gadget I'll forget I have
You need to fill up the bulbs or else the balls won't be round. I agree with everyone else - the balls are huge. Half the size would be better. There is a lot of wastage. I think I'll put up with portions of unequal size and forget about this useless gadget.
