Great for kids who want to start playing immediately with minimal 'drudgery'

My seven-year old son could play the entire first book within a couple of weeks, which happily is composed of popular nursery tunes he knows, so he can self-correct when his playing doesn't sound right. He started with an instructor last week, who was impressed with his high level of commitment and interest - which I attribute to these books! Enjoying an early success at playing whole songs has been inspirational and fun for him, and he wants to keep learning. My own childhood experience with beginner piano books was so deadly dull that I gave up quickly, but this one, heck, even I play it too.You do have to slightly 'deface' your keyboard with stickers, but they'll peel off later, and they are the really essential part, since they teach the keys by visual association (C note is a cat face, D is a dog, E is elephant, etc) and the key labels match the note signatures visually. No need to start memorizing note placement until child is already playing successfully, and then it comes naturally at that point. The notes are also numbered to show which finger (1-5) should be playing the note. Can't recommend enough. The Level One book teaches the right hand, treble clef, and no black keys, with basic time signatures. The Level Two book adds the left hand and bass clef, with some black keys and additional theory. After these two books, children will be able to transition easily into more complicated lesson series.

EASY TO LEARN PIANO INSTRUCTION- KEEPS KIDS INTERESTED!

Wonderfully easy and simple way to get the child into piano. My 6yo daughter loved (and basically self-taught herself) the first book, we are now on book 2 (which she begged me to get). The books are part of a 3-book series that transitions the learner from animal stickers- to note recognition (without the stickers). It's easy to read and organized well for a beginner.PROS: Visually appealing, easy to read/learn, fun stickers to put on keys, transitions to full non-sticker note reading, includes nursery rhymes as well as some simple classic pieces, fun for kidsCONS: Only 3 books, pricey

Great product for toddlers

Great for toddlers to learn notes. My 4 year old loves it it keeps him interested and occupied. However, like with anything parents need to be involved. I play piano and help him learn using these great materials. Had been loooking for something for little kids and Bingo, this is it. Other materials I've seen are a little advanced for small children. The size is big easy to read and a stickers are great for my 4 year old to stay interested.

Excellent way to get started!!!

This book seems to be very well thought out. It definitely has a child in mind by incorporating fun and colorful animals with stickers and yet the names of the animals start with the same letter as the actual name of the note. Giraffe starts with G and it represents the note G so kids get to learn the actual note names with ease while having fun. I got all their books, gifted one and highly recommend to everyone interested in getting their kids to play!!!

expensive but good

Overpriced, but really good. I have 3 daughters, age 6, 7 and 12. The 6 and 7 year olds LOVE THIS. They had little interest in learning to play before this, and I had tried various books (Teaching Little Fingers To Play and a couple of others). The 6 year old especially has loved this, partly I think because it makes learning piano like learning to read, which she's also excited about right now. It's not going to get you to an advanced level, and you'll have to suffer through many renditions of one-fingered "Mary Had A Little Lamb". But it's a pretty good way to get young kids excited and confident around the piano or keyboard (the stickers also work on a keyboard).

Pretty good follow up

I really liked the first level of this book. My child found it easy to follow and can now recite those songs by heart. This book introduces both hand playing which is tricky at first, but is a great tool for kids.

Easy to follow

Grandkids love it. Don’t need to know how to read music.
