Phosphates enter the water from sources like leaves, decaying plant matter, acid rain, waste, and sweat. PHOSfree Extra-Strength by Natural Chemistry is specifically designed to quickly reduce high phosphate levels. Easily maintains low levels of phosphates in even the largest volumes of water.

It really works!
In 25 years I've never had a significant phosphate problem in my pool. They cleared the lot and started building a house next door several months ago. The next think I know my pool phosphate level jumped to over 3000, almost 4000. I spent way too much money on other products that did absolutely nothing. When I used one jug that cost over $50 the phosphates actually went up. I ordered this extra strength phosfree, used almost half the jug, let the pump run for 2 days and then cleaned my DE filter. Took the pool water in for testing today and the phosphates were down to 600. I was beside myself with delight! Still high, considering that the most I've ever had was around 100 occasionally, but finally a far cry from the 3000+ it's been for months. And this was after one treatment! I'm so excited to have finally found a product that actually works! I'm going to check into what other pool care products this manufacturer provides.

Pool looks worse ever, DOES NOT WORK
I used this based on my local pool clerks recommendation, never needing to use this before. My phos level was 300 at the beginning of the spring. I used the product as directed. Even used the recommended phos free and pool perfect as suggested, as a weekly maintenance. Brought sample back a month later and phos had climbed to 1000. In addition my algae increased as well. Brought another sample in and was advised to get rid of algae, so another 30 bucks in yellow out(which works great)and shock. Then added Phos Free again(another (25 bucks) Phos level after 3 days once again over 1000. I went back to the store and just happened to meet the local Natural Chemistry rep who was in the store. He personally did my phos test and the results were so high, he said that phos free will not work, I would need the commercial grade. Went through the yellow out treatment again, to get rid of the ever present algae and then used the commercial grade phos Free as directed, phos now climbed to 3000+, the sample was dark blue.I contacted the company Natural Chemistry and told them my story, they suggested I clean the pool and rid it of algae and use the commercial grade again. They even went so far to suggest that my local water was perhaps filled with phosphates, something I truly doubt. I live in a city of 80K and it would be odd, that no one at the pool store suggested that the local water was full on phosphates.I asked them to provide me with a free treatment since I spent almost $300 this summer on their product alone. Not to mention at least another $200 in yellow out and chlorine and countless money running my pool filter non stop. They would not, in fact they suggested I return it to the seller. Good luck after the product was already used and the packaging disposed of.It is now the end of the summer and I am still struggling to get my pool back to normal.I never usually leave reviews, but I am extremely upset after using this useless product AND not getting the intended results.MY POOL LOOKS THE WORST IT EVER HAS, I WILL NEVER USE THIS PRODUCT AGAIN, AND SUGGEST YOU USE IT WITH CAUTION.I will be leaving this feedback on the phos free commercial product as well.

Easy - It really works -and helps prevent algae growth
If I keep my phosphate levels below about 200, I never see algae of any kind. With this stuff, I can easily drop down at least 500 points in one treatment. If you have a DE filter, it’s best to backwash first and put in fresh DE. 48 hours after adding the Phosfree, I vacuum the pool bottom, then I backwash again and also hose off the filter grids before adding DE again. I also vacuum the bottom of the pool. The Phosfree binds the phosphate into small (visible) specks, so I want to make sure all of it is gone.If you don’t start with fresh DE before you add it, you may clog up your filter during the process and not get rid of all the phosphate.

Recommended. Product seems to do what it's designed to do. I use this for a 38,000 gal home pool because I live in HOT, Houston climate and I want extra protection for algae. I adjust the amount so that I use half the amount of Commercial (it's concentrated) compared to what I use of the regular, residential product. I save money that way and hopefully get a more 'commercial' protection advantage.I do not have algae problems. However this product will not do it alone in Gulf Coast climate. The usual good practices are followed, like good, clean filtration, brushing pool regularly, and keeping the chemistry balanced, then this product will greatly reduce the struggle to keep algae away from my hot pool water. I get small amounts of tough, black algae in places that the Polaris clearer and manual brushing cannot easily reach, like stairs and corners. This product keeps that black to a minimum but I still have to keep watch for it and wire brush those.

Extra Strength Phosfree works better than regular phosfree
I have tried using regular phosfree to reduce phospates which was very high in my pool. Did not reduce a whole lot and so I gave it a go with Extra strength Phosfree. After 3 days of use, it was dramatical drop in phosphates. The pump pressure goes high though so be careful and I had to back wash in between.

Does what it supposed to do. Good Price compared to cost at local pool store
Doesn't take much of this to reduce any foaming in hot tub. This size will last a Long Time. Good for an occasional treatment as needed, but I suggest you don't spend a lot of time and money chasing water chemistry with expensive chemicals when simply changing the water out ever 3 months or as needed is way cheaper than trying to balance the water in a heavily used hot tub with chemicals.

Phos Free Works
Received my order quickly and used it right away. My pool was having repeat algae problems. A friend said try Phos Free. He told me algae needs phosphates to live. My pool tested at around 1500 ppb for phosphates before. After one initial treatment per instructions my pool tested around 200 ppb for phosphates. I am now on cap full maintenance doses weekly. My phosphates continue to drop. My algae blooms have stopped and large algae growths on some of my rock work that hangs into the pool are starting to die and fall off into the pool. As promised no phosphates no algae. The stuff is a little pricey but algaecide and heavy doses of chlorine are not cheap either. The stuff works. A customer of Phos Free for life.
