Great Therapy Tool
This book was just what I was looking for! It works wonderfully for children approximately ages 4-7. As a child and family therapist, I seek to provide support for children and families going through difficult and stressful times. Divorce is a common occurrence, and can be handled successfully by many resilient families, with the appropriate guidance and tools. This book provided not only activities and interventions for children to complete in therapy, but tips for both parents relative to what their role and custody looks like. It also includes a questionnaire for parents in the appendix in order to assess the needs of the child and family at that time. It is a paperback book that is simple, easy to read and fits just perfectly on any bookshelf.

Excellent book for child therapists
As a child therapist, I am very pleased with this book. It offers some creative and child-friendly activities to use with younger children to help them deal with the many problems they face when their parents divorce. It's an excellent guide for therapists and even includes letters for parents to incorporate them into the therapy. This book was well thought out and I highly recommend it!

Excellent resource for grade school counsellors
Grade school counsellors will find Cory’s story, play-based activities and parent support material an excellent resource. I particularly love the cookie breathing technique and parent contract to discourage therapist involvement in court disputes. Highly recommended for those working with children in structured settings. I came by this book at a conference and it’s become one of my go-to resources for structured games and exercises for children when I run groups to support children with divorce and separation. Check out Liana Lowenstein's other books for more great therapeutic ideas.

Beyond My Expectations!
This is a must have for all therapists who work with young children affected by divorce. The book presents practical interventions such as games and puppet role-plays, which are helpful tools to engage children. Sometimes children experience an internal tug-of-war that is hard to put into words, but this book provides the right activities that let children share and process their experiences. Both boys and girls will relate to Cory, the main character in the story. The parent letters are a wonderful way to include caregivers in the treatment process. I also love how the practitioner is given permission to photocopy the story, activities, and parent letters for use with clients. This book will be something you want to keep close at hand.

Wonderful book!
I found this book to be very useful for children going through divorce. It covers many topics that other divorce books do not address. An individual plan for each child can easily be made by selecting the topic from the Table of Contents. There are activities to go along with the story which will help the child experience healing during their parent's divorce. The book also helps parents understand what their child is going through so that they can help their child during the healing process as well. I am excited to use this book in my therapy with children. I highly recommend any book by Liana Lowenstein, they are all well written, extremely useful, and easy to use!

Great Resource for Divorce Issues!
Liana Lowenstein's Cory Helps Kids Cope with Divorce impressively covers all the common issues that children struggle with in divorce situations. All children will be able to relate to the main character Cory and the play based interventions will engage children as they process through their struggles. Lowenstein incorporates information for parents that is spot on in terms of what parents need to understand about what is happening with their child. I have already begun using this book with a couple of my clients and they love it!

Excellent resource to support therapeutic work with children and their families experiencing separation and divorce
This book has become my favourite resource on dealing with divorce for children up to the age of 10 -11. Children can identify with the character named Cory as we work through topics of relevance to their own situations. The topics are comprehensive, covering every situation on divorce that I have encountered with children. I really like the informative handouts for parents, that include straight-forward information on ways to support their children throughout the process of separation and divorce.
