The Queen Must Die: And Other Affairs of Bees and Men

Splendily Written
The Queen Must Die is an extremely well written look into the everyday happenings of the honey bee. The descriptions are wonderful and there is a lot of really cool and great information. Normally a non-fiction book like this will drag in many places but Longgood's beautiful way with words makes this a quick and joyful read. The only downside I had with the book was the redundancy of certain questions he poses throughout the book. However, that is a very minor issue for a book that offers so much wonderful insight. If your someone who finds honey bee's to be interesting and exciting then this a must read for you.

wonderful book!
This is an incredibly readable book! Even if you don't keep bees (I don't because I can't), I love them and I loved this book! It gave me so much information and I go around talking about bees and this book now to practically everyone I meet. It has also raised my interest in other types of creatures and expanded the universe of my world tremendously. This is such a good good book!

A Must Read
This book is the most complete and accurate book about honey bees. I raise Honey Bees just for the love of bees and have read hundreds of books on this topic. William Longgood is the expert on bees. I wish more bee keepers would follow his sound advice and his practices then we may have more healthy bees on our planet. I use Top Bar hives not Langstroth but this book looks at the bees not the type of equipment used. A definite must read.

Learn about bees
I have not yet finished this book, but have enjoyed it very much. My husband is a beekeeper, so I have enjoyed learning about bees, but in a format that is more enjoyable than a technical manual. Mr. Longgood has an easy manner of writing, the chapters are very short, so I can read and learn a little at a time as suits my schedule. I think anyone who enjoys learning will find this book insightful.

A good and interesting read
It's been thirty years since this book was written and a lot more information has been discovered about bees since then. All the same this book reads well and supplies some very interesting concepts about bees. Once in a while I did find it a little too anthropomorphic but the end result has been worth the effort.

This is a great book, I first bought it because it was recommended to me by a bee keeper who I respect. Now if it not "the only book you will need" as this friend said, I totally recommend reading it, because not only it is full of information, but it also leads you to ask yourself some question about bees.

I was glued to this book. I was sad when I finished.
I was glued to this book. Easy read. I’ve learned a lot of great things about the honey bee community. Think “Borg” of Star Trek series and mystical.
