Excellent reading for preschooler
Excellent reading books for preschoolers just learning to read. Good transition from phoenics to build confidence in reading.

Recommended - but only Book Band 3
This further set of Stage 4 books includes:Dad's Jacket (Book Band 3 - yellow)Stuck in the Mud (Book Band 3 - yellow)The Den (Book Band 3 - yellow)Look Smart (Book Band 3 - yellow)Tug of War (Book Band 3 - yellow)An Important Case (Book Band 3 - yellow)All good, but following the original set of 6 stage 4 books ('House for Sale' et al), we were disappointed to find these a bit too easy. And, oddly, they are levelled at Book Band 3, IE BELOW the original stage 4 set which is Band 4 and 5! Confusing for parents but I suppose they still have a role; they helped my son build up extra confidence in his reading by taking a small step back.

We love it
We love this set and my daughter loves to read them to me. We do chart and she draws a "Tick" each time she finish new book. She now wants to read all the books.

ORT is fantastic!
Another set of excellent books for the Reception/ year 1 child starting out with reading independently. The set includes:1. House for sale (Book band 4 - Blue)2. The New House (Book band 4 - Blue)3. Come In! (Book band 4 - Blue)4. The Secret Room (Book band 4 - Blue)5. The Play (Book band 4 - Blue)6. The Storm (Book band 5 - Green)This set is designed to be read in order and really works to keep a child's interest and get them wanting to read on to find out what happens in the next book. Biff, Chip and Kipper move house. In the new house they find a hidden room while decorating. The room contains a miniature version of the house containing a mini version of the children and Floppy the dog. The final story tells how the magic key (the basis for most of the stories in Stage 5 onwards) is found.Stage 4 books bridge the gap between highly supported reading at levels 1-3 and more independent reading at level 5 onwards. Highly recommended. These are much more interesting for a child than the very dry Jolly Readers series from Jolly Phonics, but I'd also recommend that series especially if you have followed their original course (which is unrivalled IMHO).
