Inaccurate Temperature Reading! Bluetooth Unreliable!
I purchased this product for my smoker. It was easy to set up and sink to the phone. The app was very user friendly and well put together. Here is where it all goes down hill! I used it to cook a Christmas turkey for the first cook with it. It did not give accurate temperature readings ambient or internal and it kept disconnecting from the phone.I had my oven set at 325° and the Meat stick never recorded and ambient temperature over 255°. I went ahead and placed my old wired thermometer in the oven and it was reading close to 325°.The next concern was when it said the bird was done a full two ours before schedule @165°. So again I went to the old wired meat probe. I remove the Meat stick and place the wired probe in the same hole and it only read145°. Again way off!I ended up not finishing th cook with it. I am returning and going to stick with wired ones.I cannot recommend this. One star!

Easy to Use Worthy for Steak Lovers
I am an avid steak fan and i thought this was a product worth trying it is very different because you actually put the ceramic thermometer into your meat so when it cooks you are notified by phone of the temperature. My first experience was great, i used the typical oven to bake for 30-45 min and seared the outside crust for 1 min 30 on each side to get a perfect medium. To be up front the first time for anyone will be a little difficult because you are monitoring your phone to make sure nothing goes wrong but once you get the hang of it, it is definitely a must have. Overall rating 5! I look forward to testing this on other products.

It works! no need to keep checking or set timers anymore
I cooked a piece of tri tip as a trial run and it worked great. Before cooking the steak, I charged my meat stick overnight. The cable is a little short but it looks like any micro usb cable will work. So the day after, I decided to do a reverse sear on the steak. I just put salt and pepper on the steak, put the meat stick in up to the notch and put it in the oven. I didn't try the xtender yet but the range worked fine from my oven to my dining table. It was super convenient since I didn't have to ever open the oven to check the firmness of the meat or use my thermapen to check the internal temperature. I ended up playing some games in the meantime. Since I was doing a reverse sear, I set my temperature to 125 degrees internal and the app notified me when it hit that temp. I took it out, let it rest a little, then seared it on my piping hot cast iron on each side to get a crust. After the sear, my steak came out a little more medium than medium rare so I'd recommend setting it to around 115 if doing reverse sear. One thing that was a little inconvenient is that before you "start a cook" the stick needs to be in the charger which needs to be plugged in. I hope that will be updated in the future. But it works! and it's super convenient and easy! I had no problems at all. Steak tasted good and I didn't have to set a bunch of timers to figure out when to take the steak out.Update:Made prime rib with it, turned out great! I set my oven to 325 and it even warned me my oven temperature was not hitting that so I bumped it up to 375 which did make it a proper 325. The ambient sensor was definitely helpful for this case. Added some pictures of the prime rib in the beginning and the final cut rib

good product
Every few weeks my family has a bbq in the park. I usually have a thing of chicken quarters going at the beginning, but I'm always running back to check on them to check on their progress. This sucks when the park is pretty large and your trying to play a game of ultimate frisbee! I seriously questioned the range of the xtender, but holy it was amazing. I could literally just pull out my phone and check on the temperatures every few minutes even at the other side of the park. But that wasn't even necessary since my phone went off when it was done! Called the game and we got to eat! Chicken was amazing too!

great idea BUT
Its a great idea but stupid that you have to create an account and with the account, they track your use of the thing. I opened the box followed the instructions created the account downloaded the app turned it on connected and BOOM got an email saying "Congrats! We’ve noticed that you’ve just completed your first cook." Well I dot think its any of their business when I use the thing. the app sucks too. i would give ZERO stars if i could.update.... you don't have to create an account but you will lose some functionality. we are tracked and videoed all the time but it just ticked me off that my meat thermometer tracked me. (don't create an account and you wont be tracked cooking) Customer service gets10 stars as they really do work hard to satisfy and I was a grumpy SOB. They are listening to the customers and are tweaking the app and will no doubt end up with a winner. the unit itself seems to be of good quality it gets a 5 Star rating

Quality Issues w/ the MeatStick
While the thermometer worked the Xtender base has a magnet that fell out after the first use. I wrote to MeatStick and requested a new Xtender base. Their response was that they have had issues with the magnet and suggested for ME to fix it,..glue it back in place.! I’m sorry, but I did not pay $80 for a thermometer so I could fix their quality issues. While it is a minor issue, I’m not fixing their problem. I’ll just send it back and get my money back.

This is really cool!
This worked really well. Purchased for a Christmas Prime Rib I was very nervous to roast. (Most expensive cut of meat, Christmas with the family, never done one before) It was amazing, I could track exactly the temp of the roaster and the meat. It gave an estimated remaining cooking time and I was able to adjust the temp of the roaster to slow it down to meet my time schedule. The meat was perfect. First time I've done a Prime Rib, it wouldn't fit in my oven, had to improvise to an electric roaster. I was afraid with all the metal the meat stick wouldn't read correctly. It did! The only con was near the end of the cook, it kept losing the blue tooth connectivity. I was within 15 minutes of it being done, so I didn't freak out.
