A very valuable resource for parents and teachers of young children
This book is perfect for new teachers and home schooling moms who aren't sure just how to teach children before they learn to read. The author sets out some important principles and goals in an easy to read fashion, integrating Montessori with Islamic principles. The book includes a discussion of what four and five year children are like - something it is very important to understand when working with young children. Then she gives a brief introduction into each aspect of the curriculum, from practical life to mathematics, social studies and physical education as well as Arabic, Qur'an and Islamic Studies. The second half of the book contains detailed samples of daily lesson plans. The sample English lesson suggests that having the children discuss the day or weather will encourage their speech development, while finger puppets can help them talk about emotions, setting up a smelling table with coffee, onion, etc. will help develop other vocabulary, and so on. The book is a most valuable resource for new teachers, and an aid and reminder of what is important for young children for even the most experienced teacher.

Great resource for Sunday Schools!
Nakhat Ahmad's guide to teaching Kindergartners Islamic education utilizing modern methodology is a break through in traditional Islamic education. The book provides practical knowledge on how to teach, offers interesting and interactive activities for Islamic learning, as well as making Islamic learning more fun. This approach should be common to all institutes of Islamic learning. As a Sunday school principal, I have made this book available to all my teachers as a resource to draw lesson ideas and projects from. There is no need to reinvent the wheel, Ahmad has compiled for us an easy and creative solution to making Islamic learning just as interesting as non-Islamic schools. The books also guides teachers into thinking more creatively and encourages them to approach teaching our deen in a more amiable manner. From curriculum, side notes, insights into early education to practical solutions, this book contains all the elements to make Islamic education more student centered. I highly recommend this book to all Islamic educators.
