Like many sellers on Amazon nowadays, they take a 4- or 5-star item and switch it for a mediocre item in the same listing. This is deceptive. The hat is nowhere near the height in the item depiction, nor the reviewer's photo from October 2017. I saw the photo, purchased it. Now I get it and it's short. I go back to listing and see it says "9 inches tall". As you can see in my photo, it's wider and shorter than the listing photo. In addition, the lining is shorter than the outer fabric of the hat, so you can't stuff it with anything to get it to shape. And, it's huge on the head. I have a big head, too. It's going back to Amazon.

This hat was great. It is made of a slightly stretchy somewhat velvety fabric. It is oversized and dramatic. The fit is flexible due to the stretch in the fabric. I purchased this for my father who has a very, very large head and he was able to wear it without any issue. Due to the height of the hat it did not want to stand up nicely on its own. We slit the liner fabric and stuffed the top with tissue paper. To keep it on securely we added a chin strap. This received many compliments at the 4th of July parade. It was an inexpensive novelty item and worked at better than expected.

The hat came flat in a package. Had to pop it up and shape it a bit before it looked good enough to wear. Not a long time mind you but it had to be done. I would not describe the material as cheap but also not high end. Good enough for a few parties I would imagine.

I originally bought this hat a few years ago. I wanted another one but when I re-ordered it the new one was completely different. It was a cheap version that was small and poorly built. It was a thin felt hat, not the robust, large, colorful version that I received the first time I ordered. I am sending it back.

This is very nice. Heavier fabric with almost a spongelike lining. It does need to be stuffed but the fabric is nice.A little cardboard and the blow up packing material worked great. The brim is bendable and the color is very good. True red, white, and blue like the flag. My husband has a 7 3/4 hat size and it stretched to fit.

Perfect for 4th of July

Not quite as pictured. Mine has a big red circle on the top instead of the red and white stripes extending over the top. Also the stovepipe tapers instead of expanding which looks odd and much more wimpy. Brim is much more floppy than the firm brim pictured.

I like the look and feel! That’s exactly as expected. It’s smaller than it appears in my opinion. I would have liked it to be larger but it serves its purpose.
