Triclopyr is systemic. You only need to wet the weeds you are trying to kill. You don't want to spray so much that it is running off the weeds. Just don't wet the leaf area of your Christmas trees and you will be fine. I spray under my mature Blueberry bushes every year to kill woody and broadleaf weeds. It doesn't harm my blueberries at all. Use the right amount, and spray only to wetting. Use a surfactant.
