First Translation of this Important Historical Commentary available
Beggars can't be choosers. This is the first translation of Xu Dachun's Shanghan Lun Lei Fang available in English, and it is very affordable. The translation is definitely not masterful, but we're also not paying for a masterful translation. Hopefully in the future there will be more and more translations of the important commentaries on the Shanghan Lun. In time, maybe a more deliberate one will be published for Shanghan Lun Lei Fang. Until then, I'll take what I can get.

Difficult manuscript
I'm being very generous with 3 stars. This is a translation of the Shang Hun Lun Lei Fang. (This is not the "Shang Hun Lun," but a later compilation by Xu Dachun). There are many typographical errors throughout! Obviously not edited by a native English speaker as the errors are frequent and glaring. Sadly, there is no index. Also, it would have been nice to provide a conversion table of historical Chinese weights and measures into metric. So now I have to make my own to figure out how much "2 liang" or "half jin" are. Probably not hard to do, but still, the author could have done so.Plus points: it's an inexpensive translation of the Shang Hun Lun Lei Fan. I have no idea how accurate the translation is, but the author does include the Chinese characters of the original text. The commentary on the formulas presented is good, but one must know TCM terminology to get it. That said, it has already aided me on "The Major Bupleurum Decoction (Da Chai Hu Tang).
