MacGyver - The Complete Final Season

Poignant and Nostalgic
Although I purchased seasons 2 - 7 of the MacGyver Series from Amazon as separate purchases for economic reasons (and to be sure I was really going to view them all), I'm electing to let this review cover the entire lot. I started buying these DVD's from Amazon because, having purchased Season 1 in a store, I was unable to find any of the others. I am glad and grateful that indeed Amazon was able to direct me to them at a price I could afford. My personal opinion is that MacGyver is one of the best shows that ever appeared on TV. My mother and I both enjoyed them tremendously, so much so that we named our Dalmatian dog after the character. The name proved fortuitous, because like the TV hero, the dog survived a fall which really should have killed him! In any event, viewing these videos again has been a poignant and nostalgic experience, but a very delightful one. I have been so blessed by this series of DVD's that I am sharing them with my 13-year-old grandson, and hope that he enjoys them as much as his grandmother and great-grandmother did during their original television presentation.

Almost perfect
Been hoping for this DVD set for awhile now. The only thing that was disappointing was the cracking in the DVD case, some of the disc's just sort of float around in there, bit they didn't come scratched.

MacGyver ROCKS!!!!
I can't wait to get MacGyver Season 7 on DVD and complete my MacGyver collection!!! :-) I love MacGyver! It's by far my favorite show. I was hoping the two TV-movies ("MacGyver: Lost Treasure of Atlantis" and "MacGyver: Trail to Doomsday") would be on there, but if not then hopefully they'll be released separately (with tons of extras included!) There are some great episodes in Season 7, as there are in every season. Some monumental ones for me include "Obsessed" (the last appearance of Murdoc), "Good Knight, MacGyver" (Part 1 and 2) (in which we learn MacGyver's first name), "The Coltons" (the spin-off attempt for The Colton bounty-hunting family), and especially "The Stringer" (series finale- we meet Sam and see MacGyver retire from the Phoenix Foundation in a tearful goodbye with Pete)- and "The Mountain of Youth" (one last fun adventure with Jack Dalton!)And to answer an earlier question, MacGyver's series finale episode is indeed "The Stringer". It was shown on April 25, 1992 and did so well that it was later decided to air the "lost" episode, filmed previously but apparently shelved for the moment in favor of other episodes- "The Mountain of Youth"- which aired on May 21, 1992.

MacGyver-Complete 7th Season
After all these years I am still a devoted MacGyver fan, and I enjoyed watching all 7 seasons of MacGyver. I was sad that there were fewer episodes in this final season, but was very glad to buy them to complete my set! :-) My only regret is that they didn't include the 2 made for tv movies (Atlantis, and Trail To Doomsday)in the 7th season. I hope Paramount puts those out soon! That would officially complete my set of MacGyver episodes. ;-) I would highly recommend all the MacGyver episodes including the 7th season to anyone who is a MacGyver fan or anyone who has seen MacGyver on TV Land or any other tv stations. Unfortunately Macgyver has been taken off of TV Land, but all of us fans are hoping that another network will pick him up and start showing his episodes. Anyway, I'm glad I have the 7th season. These episodes are really good! :-)

The Ending that Should have been the Beginning
This is not the best Macgyver season, however, it is worth watching to see how it ends. If you are a Macgyver fan then you can't miss it.I would only like to point out that the series should not have ended. And as you watch the final episode you will see that Macgyer and Sam could have hundreds of new adventures. There is also so many new situations that could've been created that Macgyver could have solved in the way that only he could. These situations would be augmented by new technology as years pass and also by amateur writers who write fan art.Well it was 7 good seasons. Richard Dean Anderson was probably ready to use his acting skills on different characters. Still if Macgyver lasted 25 seasons with new situations and solutions, it would have been phenomenal.

The missing episodes
Is it just me, or are there atleast 3 "missing" episodes; such as the First Murdoc episode: Dana Elcar, Richard Dean Anderson, Michael deBears, and Bruce McGillis (Taxi cab; Murdoc in drag) and the REUNION episode of that (stuck in a semi, obitiuary to bring them together) Those were the first two encounters with Michael deBears character and we do NOT have them on DVD!The THIRD episode I can confirm is missing is also early, Season 2 I think; Dana Elcar and Richard Dean Anderson head to find his "wife" and first time we see the character they bring back the following season who plays Dana Elcar's "Son"Have any other of you noted the same issues? on episodes I may have missed and or forgotten?Mayby they are planning a "missing episodes" package.

Richard Dean Anderson was just as good as ever
A very disappointing ending to the series. It seems all the people involved were getting tired. Richard Dean Anderson was just as good as ever, but he was let down by weak story lines. Dana Elcar made very few appearances because of his eye problems and he was missed. Also, Bruce McGill as Jack Dalton only appeared in one episode right at the end - his presence would have livened up some of the other episodes. For some reason the final episode was put in second to last, so if anyone else buys this DVD, watch The Mountain of Youth BEFORE The Stringer. If you are collecting the series then include this one, but you probably won't want to watch it more than once.

I found this series was a little bit disappointing. Richard Dean Anderson was as good as always but some of the story lines were a bit of a let down.
