Nice
This is a must for me when the weather gets hot and sweaty. I had one, but for some reason, it got lost. This has a thin cushion pad. You might want to adjust (shorten) the height of your shoulder rest when you cover your chin rest with this. Thr slip resistance works. My chin rest is one of those SAS chin rest. It fit but it is a little tight on that particular model. I think after having a handful of concert, it fits now.

Works fine. Wish it was easier to clean.
Works fine. This is the second one I've purchased. The only observation I have: because it's 'suede' like, it picks up skin oils - ends up looking grungy. Wish it was easier to clean.

The padding is too thin
It's a really nice price, and the fabric is nice, but the padding in the center is not at all sufficient to soften the edge of a chinrest. However because it's designed with an open slit to insert the foam, you could insert more padding to make it more comfortable. For myself, I'm returning it to get the Strad pad, which breaks down after about 10 years, but is made of a really springing dense foam.

Love it!!! Wish I'd gotten it three rashes ago.
It's perfect! I have been having to drape a scarf over my collarbone in order to prevent the horribly itch rash I get from the metal of the chin rest. I had looked into getting a hypoallergenic chin rest, but I like the one I have (except for the allergic reaction), and I didn't want to mess with removing that one and putting on a new on that might not be as comfortable or as well-made. This Chin rest cover was far less expensive and does exactly what I need it to do.I'm glad another customer wrote how to put it on. I just slid the pad over the chin rest, wrapped the end with the elastic on it over the posts of the chin rest and down and around to the back side of the violin and hooked the elastic on the back corner of the violin. It worked like a charm. (I promise, even if you can't get a mental image of how to do it right now... if you purchase one, you will immediately understand what is meant.)

Best I've tried for the price.
I played violin through elementary, jr high, and high school and thought the "violin hickey" was just from bad skin and not showering enough. Turns out it was because I was having a bad reaction to the wood/varnish of the chinrest. I recently picked this up and have had no further issues. At the time of this review, this was the cheapest chinrest available with prime shipping. It's extremely easy to put on your violin, just loop it over get to playing! It's soft (well, much softer than wood)!I really appreciate the color: it actually goes with the orange/red/brown-ness of your violin; and for the price, might as well give it a try.2 YEAR UPDATE: I've been using the same chinrest for two years now, and its held up beautifully. You'll notice a lot of people who play their violin a lot develop some scarring below their chin - this will definitely help to prevent that (and if you've already developed it like me, it'll keep it from getting worse!)

It may wear the finish off your instrument...
Would not install properly - always a wrinkle, thus rendering surface to be slippery.BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY - on all 3 instruments that I used this chinrest cover, I found the finish to be worn off after (attempting to) use this product. (note the viola pictured - the wear extends below the tailpiece mount because the wear was discovered when installing a new tailpiece.)

Favorite solution yet
I've been playing for 20 years and play professionally so my violin and face spend a lot of time together. This is by far the best solution I've found so far to deal with both discomfort of wood on skin and also my allergy to the metal chinrest clamps. I've tried cloths of all sorts of materials, even chamoix (because it's less slippery), but this is the most comfortable and convenient because it stays on, is slightly padded like a pillow for your face, and also isn't slippery... so my violin has never felt so secure; secure enough that an avid proponent of shoulder rests (me), has no problem going with out one if I had to. I ended up buying another one as a backup/for use on my other violins.
