How wide are are the handles?

The handles are 3 and 7/8 inches wide. That is also the width between the suction cups. The suction cups are 4 and 1/2 inches in diameter. They are very well made and do an excellent job. Glass companies also use a same/similar product for carrying large pieces of glass to install. I hope this helps.

Is the handle aluminum?

It’s an aluminum alloy. Lightweight, but seems verystrong.

Can I somehow attach an action cam ?

Yes if your camera has the proper devise, if it can attach to a bikes handle bar or something like it.
