Gene Wilder is and always will be Willy Wonka
Saw this movie when it first aired on tv way back in the 70’z as a child and loved it. Gene Wilder really set the bar impossible to ever reach by mere mortal men! He did such a great job noons ever touched this classic out of fear of Oompahs taking them away. This movie came out in 1971 and actually bombed at the theaters! It was until it aired on TV did was it widely accepted and loved! As they say the rest is history.Eilders portrayal of this timeless classic scared off remakes until 2007 when Johnny Depp brought his rather odd looking and even more creepy character back to life in 2005. His version really was train wreck in many different ways. It was so bad Hollywood quickly remade yet another film in 2023 only 19 years later that only time will tell if this version will have the magic that Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory gave us.If you’re the guy or girl that hasn’t seen this movie you owe it to all humanity to buy this dvd yesterday! Yes yesterday so quickly hope on a plane and go back over the international date line and order it yesterday!

The final scene haunts me
It occurred to me that the last scene with Granpa, Charlie, and Wonka, is a bit of a haunting snapshot of the people at judgement day. Meaning, people will presumptuously expect God (Wonka) to reward them with the God’s Kingdom (Wonka’s Factory) for being ‘good people.’But Wonka wasn’t impressed with people being ‘good’ in their own eyes. Wonka was impressed with confessing, and coming clean, (IE repenting). Because, even Charlie —who was good in his own eyes— knew that he was wrong; and that being good in his own eyes wasn’t good enough.Instead, Wonka’s favor was only won over when Charlie came clean. Yes, Wonka (God) was pulling for Charlie (and all of the other ticket recipients) all along, but it was ultimately up to each individual golden-ticket-recipient to turn from their own ways.Unfortunately it was only one recipient who made it.I wonder how many people will come clean- before it is too late.

"THE ORIGINAL" 1971!!!!
Just brings back a lot of memories back in my childhood! I can remember when this 1st came out in 1971 and at the age of 9 been through a lot in my life for the 57 years but every time I pop this into the VCR I just sit back and go back in time! It's so enjoyable to see this over and over and looking at all the stars that back when your a kid you don't understand or care who the actor and actresses are then almost in one more year it'll be it's "50th" anniversary and you say to yourself wow! So that's who this was and who that was you just want to say oh my God! Anyways this movie will always be one of my most favorite and most memorable movie for the rest of my life! So enjoy watching!...a lot of memories!

An oldie but goodie.
I got this for my 21 month old grandson and he loves to dance to the music. I just like Gene Wilder and for someone reason I did not have it in my collection. Great fun movie and a lesson to be learned.
