Good Info with a Poor Presentation
A lot of good info here. Helped me a lot to make my decision whether to pursue archery as an outdoor hobby.I do have issues with the format of the book. For me, it was hard work basicall read it at all.Why is the text font absolutely miniscule? The format is maybe 5x8 with about 1" margins all around. Lots of wasted space that could have been used for a larger, easier to read font to transmit the author's information. Why are the sections containing special day information greyed out so as to make the tiny text almost illegible? As a digital document, I can enlarge the font as required. Not so as a printed document. For me, the format seriously got in the way of the author's message.

Handy reference
My adult son read this book before he tried to shoot the first arrow and found it to be very helpful. The book must be written in an easy to read, easy to follow way because it didn't take long for him to get all the way through and he learned tips that he used from the very beginning.

Great overview of what it takes to start as an archer
A friend game me a copy of this book when I said I wanted to buy a bow. It is easy to read and covers all of the basic decisions you need to make to buy equipment and start shooting. It doesn't replace a good archery shop, since your equipment will need to be customized to your own body and shooting style. But it is great to have an expert overview of all of the issues, and also an "objective" perspective on the decisions you'll make when you go to a shop or buy online. Definitely worth investing in this helpful book before buying any gear!

... Steve Ruis books on coaching I have which are good and thought provoking
Bought this to add to the other Steve Ruis books on coaching I have which are good and thought provoking. For Adult beginners is not that different to the others beginners books by way of inclusion of new material.Once you begin shooting, you will quickly out grow this, and would need to move onto others like the step by step guide, but working with a club coach is still by far the best way to improve.
