This could be a 5 star review if the hot shoe foot were larger.Unfortunately, because the foot is much smaller than the hot shoe, there is no way to repeatably mount this on your camera. Even when the locking screw is tightened this adapter will swing about 1/8". That is completely unacceptable when you are using a red dot sight or any other device that needs to be parallel with the axis of the lens.

I'm trying to use it, but one can't tighten it enough. It has to be very precisely lined up with what the camera sees in order to be useful. I'm now trying to shim it so it stays in place.

I bought this after buying a more expensive, but highly rated device from Germany.When it arrived, it wouldn’t fit my Nikon D7500.This fits. However, it arrived with the two screws holding the rail to the “foot” slightly loose so that the rail moved a little.Tightened the screws and that problem seems fixed.The foot if smaller than the slot in the hot shoe, and quite thin, so there is “slop” in the fit and you have to tighten this up more than I like to stop it moving. Not sure how repeatable the alignment is going to be taking it off and on. I suspect some realignment may be needed each time.However, for the price, it’s ok. Certainly better than a more expensive, possibly better design which doesn’t actually fit.

I like the construction, I just wish the rail extended slightly further out over the camera.

The shoe is made undersized, I suppose to fit a wide variety of camera shoes. Consequently it cannot hold zero due to slop. We are using shims to try to stabilize it so mounting a dot sight will work properly. I would not order again but can't find an alternative.

This rail would not tighten in the hot shoe. I intended to use this to mount a red-dot finder scope, but it was so loose, I didn't even try to mount the scope. Touching the wheels to dial in the scope would have moved the scope. It was not usable.

Mine also arrived very loose. I tightened the screw but the plate that connects to the hot shoe is not in line with the rail (easy to see just looking at it) so a scope attached points way to the left of center. I tried losing the screws and reattaching, but that didn't help.
