On my 2000 Silverado it is attached to a bracket and above the tank between the cab and the bed. Not easy to get to. If you look down towards the tank in this gap you may be able to see it.

If it's a truck, look between the cab and bed on the drivers side. With some cursing, you can remove it without having to drop the gas tank.

What evap canister do i need for my 2003 silverado?

Mine was a 2003 and this one was it. It was located between the bed and the cab on driver side. Sometimes it's slightly under the bed. You can check there if you need.

how is the hose released

it has two clips that you have to press really hard .... but i used a skinny flat screw driver ... i released one clip first hold the hose and then released the other one and hose came out ...
