Hindu Gods and Goddesses

I was looking for information on Hindu deities for an illustration commission and this book fit the bill pretty well. It's illustrated, it explains the symbolism and it gives you enough information to know what questions to ask. I needed to supplement the information for my purposes, but it was an excellent base knowledge. Plus I enjoyed reading it.

Very informative little book! If you need to know about the many Hindu gods and goddesses and all of their different aspects and attributes, this is where you should start. I just received this today and have only skimmed it but it seems that everybody is covered. I'm just beginning my journey into Sanatana Dharma and this book will really help. The pantheon of deities can be overwhelming for the westerner and this book appears to be geared toward them. I bought it used and the book is in great shape. I recommend this item for anyone who wants to know more on the subject. Good book, good seller and fast shipping. Good job!

This small book has a short introduction to most of the Hindu Deities, it even has pictures. It is a nice little starter to get an idea on who is who. Then if you find one that is intereting to you, you can research it further.

I am taking many classes and this comes up with Hindu and also spiritual masters and their stories. The background of the different dieties. It was really helpful to look up quickly and get the understanding of the story behind and how it can relate to many of our current spiritual understandings/teachings.

This isn't a bad book, it just wasn't what I was looking.If you are looking for a book that explains polytheism to someone raised in a monotheistic world veiw, this is an excellent book. Unfortunately for me, I was looking for more of a reference manual, to explain in depth, the iconography with pictures of the various Hindu gods and goddesses, and I was hoping for a slightly more exhaustive list of the different Hindu gods, this one limits itself to the gods that are worshiped nation wide, and there are many, many more.

This books does a great job outlining the symbolism that the gods represent in a easy & comprehensible way that will stick. Many books take a deep stance on their explanation, making it difficult for new seeds or even intermediate level practitioners to understand. This book will break through the fuzziness and give you clear description on each of the gods...

Great source of info. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a concise overview of the Hindu deities.

This is a great little book of short stories and good line art pics of the gods/goddesses of Hiduism. Most people familiar with Hinduism may know the main cast of characters and their stories. This little book will let you know about the rest(well a majority of them).

I have not yet started. But I bought this book not because of interest, but the reason is; how it started.This is why I bought this book.

Good book, clear and conscise, includes most of the major and popular forms and manifestations.Basic descriptions are given. It would have been nice if their symbolic interpretation and esoteric meaning had been given. However it provides value for money and has excellent technically correct illustrations. great buy!

This a a very useful book for me as a new yoga teacher, just learning about the deities.
