Very good knife to start woodworking with
I just started woodworking and needed a decent marking knife that doesn't cost too much. I think this knife has met my needs. It arrived in about 8 days and not weeks. The bubble packaging is sufficient and they even included one packet of green tea with a handwritten note. It arrived sharp enough to mark through birch and white oak. (I was able to cut a regular lettersize paper with it already.) Of course after several uses, the tip became blunt and I had to hone it. The grip is comfortable although the finish on the wooden handle is not perfect. I saw a small lump of the varnish on the surface of the blade cover. Although for the price, I really don't mind it. Overall, I am very pleased with this knife.

A Poor Joke!
Well, it cuts well but the presentation and workmanship don't look like the Japanese knives I normally purchase. The wood part is very rough/harsh to touch - feels it's the product made in China. What's the WORST is - I purchased the one for right hander first, then left hander later (because at first, I thought I ordered the wrong side for "right hander", I then ordered the 2nd one for the "opposite side" to correct the previous mistake). But, I found no matter right or left hander, as it is said in their description, the blade/handle direction is ALL THE SAME! It is very stupid. Now I stupidly keep both of them (they are both for "left hander"; and I'm right-handed), planning to give them away for my friends who's are left-handed and want these knives.

Will need work on water stones to get that razor sharp mirror finish for wood working but it is over all a great little knife
The knife is outstanding. Will need work on water stones to get that razor sharp mirror finish for wood working but it is over all a great little knife. There is, as with all good Japanese knives, a harder steel on the edge. The wood is good to great quality depending on your use. The fit and finish is good I recommend finishing it with Tung Oil to reduce the chance of water getting into the wood and for a better grip but it is fine on it's own. It also fits easily in your pocket. I have not been working with this long enough to say anything about edge holding but should be fine. Blade length and angle are outstanding for wood work. Would I buy this again? Yes.

Sharp!
This knife took a little while to get to me, but it did come directly from Japan, so no complaints here given the cost. This is great for CERTAIN crafts. I did try using it for cutting washi paper and it is so sharp that it cuts into the actual grains of the paper vs. sliding along the crease like a duller knife does. I use an old global knife that had its tip broken off now instead. I imagine this could be useful as a general cutting tool for things a bit harder than papers. I have yet to use it for chipboard or mdf, but I think it might be a great use for it.

A Musthave.
When I was a schoolkid in Tokyo, this type of "kogatana" or "kiridashi knife" was a must-have thing for us.When I discovered this knife being available to purchase through Amazon, I simply could not resist ordering it.They ( I ordered two - one for myself and another for my stepson) arrived in 8 days !!! Magic!!!This knife is produced in Higo Kumamoto, Japan, the area known for "katana-kaji" or swordmithing for hundreds of years.I am really happy to find that the blade is very, very sharp and woodwork superb... just as I remembered it.I do strongly recommend this product for everyone !!!

the handle is big enough to fit comfortably in my hand
Simple perfection, the handle is big enough to fit comfortably in my hand, and the blade is sturdy sharp as a razor, and simple to sharpen. It was shipped from Japan, and arrived sooner than expected. Seriously recommend this product.
