Great semi commercial machine
I have used this machine 5 times now. All for parties. For the money, it is an awesome machine. It easily grinds any type of ice. We shaved about 40 pounds of ice in minutes. It is as advertised. The machine is sturdy and easy to use and does compare to the more expensive commercial machines. The are a few negatives (cons), but overall a great snowcone making machine. Now here are the negatives of this machine. I wish the bowl to catch the shaved ice was bigger. At least able to hold a complete and full hopper. Due to the bowl being smaller than the hopper capacity, you either have to put less ice in the hopper or stop grinding and empty the shaved ice into another container. A second negative is that the push flap that compacts the ice onto the blades is a little small. This then creates small pieces ice to pass the "flap". When you retract the handle/flap, small pieces of ice come with it. It does make a small mess. Due to the small bowl and the small flap on the handle, it can make a little bit of a water mess. So either a towel under the machine is necessary or simply do it outside where the water won't be a problem. But for the price, it grindes a ton of ice quickly and the ice is nice and fluffy. We used store bought ice and ice from our fridge. It didn't matter, it worked great and produced a quality snow cone ice. It is great for the "adult" drinks too. Other than the small water mess, this machine does hold up well to parties. It never struggled, never over heated... nothing. Oh and the machine has a manly "rumble ". So if you are looking for a quiet machine, this is not for you. It is made for heavy duty ice shaving in an instant. The only thing that would make this an even better purchase is the option to grind the ice into an acrylic box (like commercial machines). Most commercial machines around around $400+. This was under $200. Same ice yield, just a little more messy and we have to deal with a small bowl to catch the shaved ice. That's why I consider it a semi commercial. It grinds the ice with the speed and power of a commercial machine without hefty price. The trade off some messy water situations and a small bowl compared to the hopper capacity. I hope this helps. For best results, use ice straight from a freezer. Wet, bagged ice does produce a "wetter" snow/shaved ice.

Love this thing
I love shaved ice, I have it 3~5 nights a week even in winter.I went through two cheap plastic ice shavers that I'd received as gifts - one died after a year and a half of regular use and its replacement only lasted 2 months. But this one feels like it can keep up with me.My main concern when comparing models was that this one had more vertical height between the shaving and the basin it fills, and I originally wanted to just put the bowl I'd be eating from directly under it to catch the ice so I wanted that height. But after using it I don't think that's a good idea. Scooping the ice out of the main bowl and into my bowl for eating quickly became a non-issue.So in that way I have a mild regret of not going for the smaller version, but the use this thing gets more than justifies the space it takes up in the kitchen, though I do think the smaller version is probably just as durable and effective. If this thing ever breaks, and it doesn't seem in a rush to, I will be trying a smaller version. Also: it's incredibly fast. With cheaper ice shavers it used to take me several minutes to grind up ice, and that was with lots of pausing and shuffling ice around so that it would make it to the blades at all. This thing chews through ice in like half a minute, so while it's just as loud as you'd expect from an ice maker, it's a very short inconvenience. The only concern I have is that it's a bit intimidating, since the blade is so accessible. I take every safety precaution and unplug it but probably not the best choice if you have small children who might attempt to operate it on their own.

Works well and build to last
Replace a cheap snow cone shaver. We really like the machine but wish it was 20% smaller so it would fit better on our counters and under our cupboards. Shaves fast. Do not have to start and stop repeatedly to get through a glass of cubes. Can handle the whole glass and more. My only complaints are that some ice gets behind the plunger and some water pools at the bottom of the shoot. I plan to fix the latter issue by adding pads to the front feet.

Uses regular ice cubes…….. no special shaped ice trays needed
I really liked the fact that I didn’t need any special shaped ice trays……just use ice cubes from freezer ice maker or standard ice cube trays, you need not spend extra money on bags of ice. Simply save your ice cubes in plastic bags.

Great overall Snow Cone Maker
This product is perfect for making snow cones for the kids. You add regular ice cubes, not like some that make you use their "container shaped" ice. The handle pushes the ice through the flue, which keeps little hands away from blades.Ice comes out like fine snow, no chunks. My kids love it!!

Excellent Performance
If you use ice cubes the snow can contain small ice chunks but, that is normal. To fix that problem Freeze ice in the shape of the cylinder and shave that and it will come out with perfect snow like a SnowShack snow cone.
