Incredibly helpful to me immediately!
I consider myself to be a beginner/intermediate crocheter. I understand most of the fundamentals and am ready to kick it up a notch and make my work next level—while building my skills and technique knowledge base. The day I received this, I would have stayed up all night pouring through it if my sleepy eyes would have let me stay up!It’s well laid out, nicely photographed, and with great points of reference. It contains full stitch chart symbols, a comprehensive guide of stitch patterns (color swatch photos, with visual charts and written patterns), that I will surely reference back to for years of crocheting to come. This is an actual resource manual that I can see myself using over and over when I get stumped, and I’m so glad I chose this book over others. It was well-written and executed, organized, and with colors, photography, and fonts that are pleasing to my eyes.It seems to be written in terms that I can understand, and in a way that my brain can pick up. The patterns at the end are very nice, and you are basically set up for success to execute them with the way they are written, and with the techniques referenced back to in certain areas of the book.I think this is something any crocheter would love to receive, regardless of skill level. But if you’re new or looking to have that *one* book, or want to give a nice gift to the yarn addict in your life—this is an excellent choice. Once I’m a little more advanced with patterns, I’ll be ordering the authors’ other titles. This is a fabulous resource. Not just a one and done book.

Exquisite instruction but the font…
I have to give this instruction book 5 stars because it is a completely well-planned course in crochet that can keep you learning and creating for years. I didn’t deduct any stars, but the font is killing me. It is a delicate, lovely font but oh so hard to read, for my eyes anyway. I would have appreciated a thicker, stronger font instead of the lacy ones. I am returning to crochet after a long absence and also wanting to learn more stitches, so my eyes aren’t those of a young learner. The photographs are excellent and show the stitches very clearly. I agree with some reviews that wish the photos were larger but there is a lot packed into this book! The instructions are clear, step by step, and I appreciate the stitch samples to work on.

Great for beginners and seasoned crocheters.
This should be the first book for everyone starting to crochet. I wish I could've found this book when I started. Great photos and descriptions of each stitches.

All information is presented in a sensible and understandable progression unlike many others...
This must be the best crochet course book ever written. I have a few, including the one from Rowan, which goes directly into the stitching almost immediately. This book, however, gives you the why of doing something a certain way. It tells you how to choose the right yarn for the right project, It gives you so much up-front information, that all your questions are answered before you ever pick up the hook and lay it to yarn. In fact, you don't do that until page 72 when you make your first swatch. It is written with humor and compassion and will hold your interest. Everything they teach you is taught in a specific order to help you actually learn the craft. Projects were developed that use the skills taught up to that point. Also, the projects are things anyone would enjoy not only making, but wearing or giving as gifts. You won't find things like granny sqare handbags, belts or doggy coats. What you will find are beautiful garments and an afghan in which you must change yarn colors in the middle of a row. The pictures are gorgeous and very explanatory in themselves even without the accompanying text. There are close to 200 stitches that they teach you and have you make the swatches for so that you will be prepared and accomplished enough to make the accompanying project. Each swatch and or project builds your skills so that you will be able to make the next project and the next. Also, at the end of the book, diagrams for every stitch imaginable is included. I don't know what else they could have included in this book to bring one from a beginner to an accomplished crocheter. Thanks, guys..Great job!

Good Book, but not as thorough as I’d love ke
It’s a good book, but I wish it showed where to place the hook when ending the last stitch in a row, and where to to place it when making the first stitch in a new row...especially, the third row. That’s where, as a person new to crochet , I struggle. Otherwise, it gave goodInstructions.

Best book ever to learn crochet!
This book was recommended by a YouTuber I follow, called TL Yarns, and I am not disappointed! I have struggled to learn until I found this book!! If you can’t get an in-person teacher or class, this book is the best teacher ever! Learn at your own pace using this book has been great for me!

Lots of great reviews and now I know why
There have been great detailed reviews on this book and I can see why. I just got the book so I haven't had the chance to go page-by-page, but what I see is OUTSTANDING! There are so many stitches in this book and the lovely thing is, you make swatches so you get some practice and you get a review of your work for later. The authors cover everything from yarns and hooks to color work, symbols, seaming and joins, common problems, increases and decreases, finishing the item...on and on I could go. It is completely thorough. The only thing I do not see right off the bat is Tunisian. But that's a whole separate animal and I can see why it's not included. I don't think there's anything I can add to my review that hasn't been said. The quality of the book is amazing! All color photos, hardcover, nice size so you can see everything well, printing is clear. It's just perfect and I the price....omgosh, what a value! I will donating my other crochet books because this one is so valuable. HIGHLY recommend! I am delighted with my purchase!!
