An Excellent Overview of the Templars – With One Glaring Omission
This book provides excellent account of the Templars. It gives an outstanding overview of the Order, its mission, and (it’s strongest feature) the day-to-day life of brother knights. In terms of clarity and detail it falls within the top tier of the Osprey Warrior series. Anyone interested in the Templars, the Crusades, Middle East history, or Medieval warfare will get a lot out of this book and probably enjoy it immensely. The one, almost unbelievable, omission is that it includes basically nothing about the dissolution of the Templars. The destruction of the Templars is probably one of the few things the average person knows about the Order, and is likely what new readers are most interested in learning about. Yet, aside from some passing mentions, there is no discussion of the destruction of the Order. I was tempted to give the book 4 stars because of this oversight. Frankly, though, it’s too good a book for that. Enjoy it for what it is, and look elsewhere for information about the Order’s destruction.

A Factual History of the Knights Templar
Knight Templar 1120-1312, by Helen Nicholson is, like most of the books in the Osprey Warrior series, well-written and copiously illustrated.Although only 64 pages in length, the greatest value of the book is its several photographs and illustrations allowing the reader to get a good `picture' of what Templar life was like. The book is divided into the following chapters:IntroductionChronologyRecruitment and AdmissionBelief and BelongingTrainingAppearance and EquipmentLiving Conditions: On CampaignExperience of BattleMuseums and Re-EnactmentGlossaryBibliographyColor Plate CommentariesIndex"Knight Templar 1120-1312" is a good introduction to the historical Knights Templar for those unaware of their history and a fair quick reference for those with a deeper background. The book lacks any of the claims of Templar mysticism or its ties to Freemasonry, and remains focused on established history. If you enjoy reading about the Knights Templar, than this book is definitely a worthwhile addition to your library.

Early period of Knights Templar
Well researched and written. “The Templar’s Day” an excellent explanation of a routine day. Many well chosen photos. Illustration plates are exceptional. Should be included in any medieval or crusader library

Solid History
I appreciate this book's lack of mythical jargon and alleged conspiracies, but its simple focus on the appearance, lifestyle, and gear of the Templars. An essential and highly recommended title. Also has good plates.

Informative.
The information was excellent but the style is a little pedestrian.

Not brilliant, but worth having
This long awaited book gives a brief history of the Knight's Templar (Helen Nicholson having written a number of great books on the Religious Orders) but is more imteresting for the fact that it gives detailed information on the Templar's dress and armourment, something not covered by other books. The downside, in MHO, is that the drawings are not as good as those in the Osprey's Knight Hospitaller volumes. But saying that, you would still want it for your collection.

discreto
Discutibile la scelta degli argomenti approfonditi, avrei preferito una maggiore attenzione alla storia militare.
