Works well if you have the oomph!
I used this to lower a "bar" on a bar billiard table I constructed. Like others I tried with a AA battery pack of 4 cells but it couldn't drive it with much force. I ended up with a 12v 1A power supply and this worked as long as I kept the friction to a minimum. So I started trying to use the shaft directly on a piece of MDF but ended up connecting a small flat plate on the end of the shaft and this works fine.So depending on application, try and get a 12V 1A supply and consider any sideways force or friction carefully and it should work.

Meets description. 4+ volts, 1+ amps, ~500 grams. Also gets hot.
VOLTAGEAs per description. Got it to work as low as 4V and as high as 12V (very hot!).I noticed some people mention it only working at 9V+, however unless they actually have a broken product I presume they've naively used a couple of AAs and so have met the voltage but not the amperage requirements.CURRENTAs per description. 1A minimum. More when it's hotter or using more voltage.FORCEAs per description. About 500-600g.LIMITATIONSAt 1A+ the solenoid gets untouchably hot after being on for any length of time. So while suitable for brief moments (i.e. power to *unlock*), the solenoid isn't really capable of operating in "always on" mode (i.e. power to *lock*), unless you want to melt things.DESIGNInput wires are just sellotaped to the body, making it more oddly sized than it should be and requiring a little reworking in order to get it to fit into a sized container.

Overheating
They are amazing little things they are quite small wasn't expecting it and they do get quite hot after continuous triggering other than that it is a ok small little thing

Great
Should be a good bit of equipment for my Halloween display

No power
Very weak. Won't operate any load

It's working but with 9V, no less
It's working but not with 6V, not even with 7V, it doesn't even move but with 9V in the end. All god except the voltage. I will need to change a couple of things in my project to make it work with 9V but is not the end of the world. 4 stars because of the voltage aspect.

Very Weak
I bought this solenoid to use in an automation project with a Raspberry Pi. The solenoid seems very weak and often only partially withdraws the link without any load. Totally unsuitable for the purpose.
