Keeps disconnecting
Bought for a new PC that was replacing a 10 year old iMac. Had never had any WiFi problems with the iMac - it just worked. This USB adapter, however, did not. It disconnected frequently, and when it was connected, the signal would vary wildly, and was generally slower than my old iMac (using a common online speed test, computers side by side). Very disappointing - I had hoped the antenna would ensure a very strong and reliable signal, but apparently not. Returning it.

Driver issue, antenna gain not capable, always switch to 2.4GHz
Driver issues: if you download the latest driver from official website, it comes with a Realtek LAN software in addition to the driver. However, this software somehow forces the wifi to be at 2.4GHz. Even if I uninstall the software, this adaptor still has very high tendency to switch back to 2.4GHz instead of using 5GHz. Normally with the claimed 6dBi antenna this adaptor should sit comfortably with 5GHz, but it struggles. Even in the rare occasions when it stays at 5G, the download bandwidth is only around 120Mbps (my broadband is 350Mbps, without this adaptor the built-in wifi card gives around 100Mbps), which means 20% of the time when this adaptor is at 5G it gives negligible benefit, while 80% of the time it's connected to 2.4G and it gives performance penalty compared to the built-in wifi card.
