Q: A rep and former mechanic "tim" from bosch just called me to say there is 0 warranty on brakes because they are a "wear item", why is that?

You put in a 1-star review for these pads complaining that they simply fell off the caliper after 15,000 miles. You didn’t mention what kind of driving did you do for 15,000 miles (downhill, freeway, side roads, high speed, race track??). With all do respect but I’m having a hard time getting around the part where the pads just fell off the caliper and left the piston to collide with the rotor??? While there are rare cases of pads falling off, you would have to ground the entire friction material to the metal, which would’ve made an unmistakable metal to metal screeching sound that one could probably hear from down the street. That or you have a bigger and serious mechanical problem with your brake system, particularly the side with the “lost” pad. For your original question of warranty, it’s a wear item. A consumable. Think of it this way, you can’t fault a restaurant for not giving enough food on your plate because you ate it all within 3 minutes, as opposed to the 30 minutes you were expecting.
