Q: Why does ingredient list say plastic ?

There is no plastic - these tumbles are solid copper, coated with aa food grade lacquer. This is an error by amazon ai, auto filling the listing. Because we had the term "better than plastic" in our copy - the ai keep stating that the item is made from plastic - but we can ensure you they are not.

Q: If these cups are lacquered why does water taste metallic if left to sit in them?

The lacquer is sprayed and there will always be tiny areas of the copper surface where it missed and a tiny tiny bit of copper leeches through.

Q: The food grade lacquer coating, does that still allow the copper to penetrate the water? Or yours are copper more for aesthetics not for medicinal ?

If you want a vessel for the supposed Ayurvedic purposes, then all our Copper Water Bottles and Copper Pitchers are uncoated, so the water comes in contact with the copper. These copper tumblers are coated so they can be used with a wider variety of drinks, like cocktails etc. They were made mainly to compliment our Copper Water Pitchers, allowing users to add a wedge of lemon/fruit and herbs to the water etc., which cannot be added to the uncoated vessels due to the acidity. Good weight and good volume. I can’t comment on the value of copper but this is a great size for a good sized drink. Comfortable to hold and use. Quality.

Lacquered

I bought these for the health benefits of drinking from copper but didn't realise they are lacquered. I became suspicious when the copper didn't tarnish. That said, if water is left to sit in the cup, I think it does taste of metal so maybe there is some benefit. I hope I'm not tasting the lacquer!EDIT: I've discovered the lacquer can be removed. There are several methods online.

Have had these for 6 weeks now and the colour is starting to come off despite only handwashing. Definitely not pure copper
