Q: When not in operation, does the winch hold tension to be used to mount chandelier overhead (~100LB)?

Yes. The winch will easily hold a chandelier in place when not operating sitting idle or even unplugged. I use to to raise and lower a stairs 4' wide x14' long approx 375# in weight and the winch has operated flawlessly

Q: What is the mounting bolt pattern (L x W) if you choose not to use the included brackets? And what's the bolt size?

The other reply is exactly correct. The hole spacing is metric and 100mm wide x 190mm long for the four mounting bolt holes.

Q: Could I mount this on a wall and run the cable through pulleys? I want to raise sea kayaks all the way up to the ceiling.

Don't know about that. I mounted mine on ceiling with track and use it to lift and move heavy objects around garage. Works well for me.

Q: How long is the cable on the remote control?

The remote wire is18/4 I added 15 ft to the length. I now have a 20 1/2-foot remote cord
