Perfect fit!
First, thank you to all previous reviewers for their installation tips! I removed the old door seal and used it to mark the length on the new piece. I'm not a "handywoman" and had no idea where my hacksaw was buried in the garage, so I used what I had in the kitchen to cut the seal to the correct length. Ended up using a chef's knife to score the cut, and a serrated one to complete it. Ladies- your nail tools can be handy too as I used a heavy duty file (like the ones for acrylic nails) to soften the exposed edge in case it ever "accidentally" hits me in the ankle when opening/closing the shower door. π Many commented on the extra length of the silicone under the seal but it fits perfectly - the height of my door lets the silicone just brush over the travertine so I didn't have to trim anything. I put about half of the length under the door and force fitted the seal up onto the door before hammering it the rest of the way in. Yes I absolutely used a soft mallet to bang that sucker into place! Fits like a glove and I know it won't budge. It is amazing to have a nice new CLEAR doorseal as the old one looked like it had been there 15 years - was completely yellowed and pieces underneath were randomly broken off. This seal is hard plastic including the lip that keeps the water away from the door and directs it back into the shower. The underside does have 2 rows of softer silicone that move more easily and brush along the bottom of the shower entry tile. Overall good value as this was one of the only seals I could find for 1/2 inch glass.

It worked, but here's some tips...
I'm a very average home handyman, and I'm very pleased to have a nice, new shower door bottom seal to replace my broken, discolored one. But this job took longer than I had guessed. So here's a few tips. (1) I was able to trim the hard plastic portion fairly easily with a hacksaw, matching the length to my old bottom seal. I cut it on top of the Amazon shipping box in order to protect my workbench. The soft silicone portions underneath extended just a bit further beyond the end of the shower glass on my old seal (to reach the shower wall), so I trimmed those to length with a scissor and a knife. (2) Sliding on the new seal proved more challenging than I expected. It was a very snug fit. First, I got out the Lime Away and a scraper to try to remove as much of any old calcium deposits as possible. It was still difficult to slide the new seal on. Next I tried a small amount of silicone lubricant spray on the inside of the seal to hopefully get it to slide easily. Nope, it was still difficult to slide it into place. So I got out my rubber mallet and that did the trick. It took a few gentle hits from the rubber mallet and voila! In retrospect, I'd recommend you try the rubber mallet before adding a lubricant. That might have done it.

Stiff, hard to work with
I rarely give bad reviews. Most reviews I give are 4-5 stars. However, this strip for the shower door was supposed to be flexible and easy to bend and cut through. It was none of those things. I managed to finally saw through the piece I needed to fit my shower door. I had one of these strips on my door already, it was another brand but they were the identical style/length/thickness. Anyway, I took the old one off and marked the length exactly where I needed to cut it and started to cut/saw. I finally got it cut down to the length I needed it and tried sliding it on the bottom of the shower door. It is so stiff I'm having trouble getting it to fit onto the shower door framing. I finally got it on there. It's supposed to just slide right on but it does not. So I finally get it on and now my shower door won't completely shut. I'm now left with a gaping hole where the door will NOT shut completely so I have water leaking out. I've taken it off, tried to cut it on the edge, put it back on still will NOT shut completely. I am so unhappy with this product. And of course since I cut it, there's probably no way to return it or get a refund. This product is junk, I would not recommend it. In fact if I could give it NEGATIVE 5 stars I would, but instead it only gets 1 star from me.

Way too stiff
This thing was a bear to install. I needed to use a hammer to pound it on the long way. Yes, on my glass door. That's attached with a hinge to more glass. You don't pound glass with a hammer, but you do to install this. I used soap as a lubricant but it still required way too much work to install it.All turned out fine, I didn't shatter the glass, but if I did, ...I guess I'd just feel really dumb. Because I would be.

Just what I needed
Most frameless shower doors purchased from the "Big Box" stores are only 3/8" thick so this is the only size door seal you can buy from them. I do a lot of work on High End homes where thicker 1/2" shower doors are used, so finding the wider seals has been a challenge. I came across these on Amazon, I ordered two so I would have an extra for next time. The 39" length is nice because I never know what size door I will be working on. They trim to fit really easy, so I do it once they are installed. Prior to installation, take a new "construction" style razor blade and scrape the sides and bottom of the door where the seal will be placed. This will ensure a good tight fit and make placement much easier. Just a small word of caution; the sweep material is longer then on most seals, so please DO NOT assume the door will close without binding, you may need to raise the door or trim the sweeps a little bit to adjust the fit. If you do not check this and just push the door closed, you may not get it back open, so please take your time and check.
