Definitely protects the head!!
My son falls 5-6 times a day and this hat is incredible helpful. The cushioning is very protective and thick and at the same time it’s light weight. However, when he wears it he sweats a lot on his head.

Great for toddler
Regretfully toddler hates anything on his head so took some coaching to use

Better than others BUT...
So, I purchased all 3 of the protective helmets after my very hyper 1yo kept falling and hitting his head. This one was the best of the 3 in terms of ease of putting on the strap. The ventilation is just ok but it still makes my LO sweat. It stays on well because of the dual strap around his ear versus the others. I would get this one out of the 3 displayed. The only problem I had was that the material smells when it comes in contact with moisture, aka sweat. So, you'll have to wash it often. The other 2 didn't have that problem.

I feel more comfortable leaving my baby explore the floor
My baby has 7 month, and we leave him time in the floor to help the development of muscles, motors skills etc... now we less stressed about avoiding a head impact with the floor. The only con I found was that the face band doesn't fit very well

Perfect
My 8 month old just started crawling and he loves the helmet and doesn’t try to take it off
