I've never opened a package of Higgans parrot food that did not smell rancid and that I either had to return or just trash. All were well before the expiration dates but all had a smell of rancid seed oil from the oils in the pellet portion and/or the seeds themselves. I would never buy any product from Higgans for my precious pets.
