It's just a backup fire starting option for the time when your lighter is dry and you have no matches. This zipper pull is a last resort. Look for "bayite Small Ferro Rod Survival Drilled Flint Fire Starter with Toggle Hole for Paracord Bracelet". I have one of those little ferro rods laced into each of my hiking boot shoe laces + these zipper pulls on my backpacks and jackets = ability to start a fire anytime/anyplace. I don't have this stuff to replace my lighter...it's just a safety net.
