Q: I need to be able to hook up either awg 4 wire directly, or awg 4 with a terminal connector with a 5/16 hole; will this circuit breaker work?

Q: This product seems to be the magnetic type per the seller website. Does this mean I can wire the line and load on either terminal?

I installed it as a replacement for the 30 amp 120vac output line from my motorhome Generac Generator a NP52G. Have about 25 hours of use on the this CB with heavy loads and had no problems.

As far as current flow is concerned, either way would be fine- your just interrupting the flow in the hot wire. Most breaker panels, however, require installation of the breaker in a specific way (matching other breakers etc).

Q: is this the same as blue sea 34-20A that's in my panel?

Per the Blue Sea Systems catalog it appears to be a form-fit-function replacement. The manufacturer (Carling) extended part number is essentially the same.
