Q: Are those artificially colured? What kind of coloured dye has been used to coat the fennel seeds, ingredient list, please?

It says "permitted Synthetic Food Colours ( E-110,E-127& E-133)".

Q: Just got my package. I have never had these before. Are they suppose to taste like black licorice? Is that the normal taste?

Anise, fennel and licorice are 3 different plants. I have grown the first 2 in my garden. (Fresh fennel flower buds are a delicacy!) The strong flavors of plants are usually intended to attract pollinators or to discourage pests. Humans have been growing fennel for at least 3,000 years in Greece. The bulbous base of the stalks is eaten as a veggie, seeds are used in baking and candy, flower beds are simply amazing eaten raw! Licorice root has a protein which is a natural, non-sugar sweetener. It's great for diabetics or waist-watchers; however, scientists can't separate the sweetening factor from the licorice flavor.

Q: Why is there a CA Proposition 65 warning on this?

We put a blanket warning on all of our products. Proposition 65 is a VERY poorly written law that allows law firms to go after anyone & everyone on a "bounty" system for the state. They know that its too expensive for small businesses like ours to defend ourselves, and that we will settle. Our only defense is to put these silly warnings on everything we sell so that we don't get sued. And no, we are not even in California, Rani is a Texas based company, but the way the law is written, they can go after everyone. I got dragged into a California court 2 years ago, holding my ground that I was not selling anything that fell into this law, you know that the law firm that had pursued me for many years did not even show up? Case dismissed, after $40,000 in legal fees.
